Dear Chris I've recently been watching the show and think it's a great service to get these guys off the street. I hope that they are all being convicted and sentenced to the maximum penalties. I do have one concern however. Doing some research into "perverted justice" it appears that they have been known to try and play detective, judge and jury. There are many stories of people working for this group who have harassed the suspects etc. Things like constantly calling these guys, posting photos of them in their neighborhood etc. While it's hard to feel sorry for any of these men, I strongly disagree with a group of citizens assuming this much power. Is Dateline aware of these activities committed by members of perverted justice? Are these types of things still going on. Do the owners of perverted justice realize they are nothing more than concerned citizens and their job stops when the suspect is turned over to the police? If these issues have been addressed, I say "go get em".

chris, my name is colie, and i wanted to let you know how thankful i am for your show. i cry everytime i watch it. i was molested for 3 years as a child, and my son was molested 3 times before i found out. the man that molested christian got off with child endangerment becasue a confession is not substancial (spelling) evidence for a conviction. he was my ex husband, and he gave my son genital warts, but it still was not enough proof. to me, it seems that this subject is stil hush-hush and not enough people care. it takes courage to confront those that hurt, and even more to show the world you will not tolerate this crap anymore. thank you so much, for speaking on behalf of myself and my son, and all the others that have to suffer at the hands of a vicious cycle.

I have seen several episodes of the show and it is good to see that some if not all of the people involved get some kind of sentence (justice) that they deserved. My concern is with most of the people involved has either seen your Dateline show or have debated going to see your decoy knowing it was wrong but they still go anyway. Apparently most of the people involved have some kind of mental sickness that leads them to go through the act. It would be interesting to see (psychology) what makes the people involved do what they do. P.S. You guys do a good job getting the word out.

At first I too thought from a viewer perspective what you might be doing is entrapment, but after seeing episode, after episode, it dawned on me that you simply are speeding up the process, yes, of pedophile predators, but you're doing it in a fashion that makes our communities safer, and for that reason alone, it's not entrapment, because if they did it from some underage prompt on the internet, who knows what can prompt them to commit these acts in their real-life surroundings at home. Chris -- I'm truly thankful and proud someone like you exists to bring journalism to a new tier that exposes the dark sides of America, and isn't afraid to show that this problem ISN'T going away, and WON'T go away for a while. Perverted-Justice -- you do the legwork and fear not, your work is not going unappreciated. I have friends who were molested as young children, and your work speaks to me personally. People need to be held accountable. I can't thank you enough, and even if that wasn't enough, you make the journalism segments entertaining, and tv-worthy, rather than a boring documentary style. Your show tonight touched on the families of these predators. I think rarely does the public think about how it has affected us and hard it is to hold your head up in a small community and go on to rebuild our lives. It's scary enough bringing a child into this world...but it's people like you, warriors for children, that help to ease my fears. My husband and I were lucky enough to be raised in families that kept close watch on our online activities. Dear Chris...first of all I can't thank you enough for what you and perverted justice are doing to help get these creeps off our streets. I am 44 years old and I met a guy on line and we hit if off and started dating. We eventually moved in together and I thought we had a great life together. Imagine my surprise when I found out he had been arrested with 5 felony counts by a sting operation..one felony was attempted aggravated sexual assault of a 13 year old girl. Of course I split from him and as far as I know he has yet to go to trial. He unfortunately was able to hire an attorney after his arrest. I feel very stupid because I let this creep manipulate me and try to convince me he was innocent. (He said he knew the person he was talking with in the chat room was an adult before he showed up to meet her at a fast food restaurant.) Your show tonight really helped me see that these guys are all very sick individuals and what ever sentence they get is too light. (The last time I spoke with him he still thinks he'll be acquitted.) With 5 felonies, one being child porn, yea, right. Keep up the good work..and again, on behalf of all our children...thank you!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'm a parent of 4 kids, 3 girls. Because of the risk, I have NEVER allowed my kids on chat rooms or even on the web unless it was for homwework and it required my personal secret login. HOWEVER, my very young teen son took a web class and acidentally typed in licos rather than Lycos when attempting to work on his website. He got a full crotch shot of a nude woman, which then lead to some curiousity clicking. I found out because of a porn virus on my machine. I was devastated as a mother and literally/physically sick as a woman shamed. We have moved on as a family, but I still feel "raped" because innocence can never return. And the worst part is they FORCIBLY ENTERED MY HOME without my consent and STOLE my son's innocence without even a blink from society. Since when is it okay to pimp girls in people's livingrooms? Parent control - sure, but give me SOMETHING to work with! The parental control buzzword is used as an excuse for lack of community responsibility. My child can't enter a liquor store without a valid ID, but sexually explicit materials can be shoved in his face at home without so much as a blink of an eye or condemnation from society! Streakers are arrested for public indecency, but anything goes on the web. I don't want to shield my kids from the whole world, but porn damages kids and creates sick adults! As a parent, I don't know what else to do other than cut the computer resource off to them all together. YOUR SHOW HAS GIVEN ME A HOPE THAT SOMEONE GIVES A RIP OUT THERE. May my tears repay you!

Chris, Thank you for your on going support in exposing us, the offenders. For eight years I to was a victim, and in "89" became an offender. I served five years of ten in prison followed by 25 years probation and I have three years remaining. Tharapy does work if we, the offenders, are willing to apply this steps in our lives. I have been watching the shows just about every time they are on, except one, and I cannot believe the men that show up at the houses. I am a 65 year old female and wish that I could do something to help catch some of these preditors. There are so many of these preverted men in all the cities of this country that need to be caught. My brother has two daughters who have been kept on a close rein while they were growing up. He is a retired police sergeant so he understands what can happen to children who are not under control of their parents. I wish that you could catch more of these perverts here in South Carolina. It is not only the men who are being caught, but women as well. Thank you for such a good series.

The series has been excellent, because none of us would have known otherwise about this nasty ugly secret pediophile epidemic tearing at our country's core and children, which obviously exists everywhere. I remain concerned that minors are allowed to post their profiles on MySpace.com given all the adult porn that is on it -- both written and in photos, as well as drugs. It's also disgusting to realize whatour young teens are capable of saying sexually in these encounters. Parents should pay more attention to their teenagers. I was searching one nite on google and got linked into a girl's website on MySpace who was pushing sex and heroin. I wonder why such people aren't being prosecuted and why MySpace is allowed to operate at all. Please keep up the good work, because the truth must be known by all parents,as many including some in my own family with teens are still in DENIAL who haven't seen your show. To Chris Hansen, I love the show, and it is very comforting knowing that you and the show are exposing the increasing problem of these child predators. This problem sickens me and I think you would be the person that would be able to pass a law stating since these predators can't be rehabilitated they should be put to death. An eye for an eye. They would've ruined a child's life for life why not take their? Let it be known that I could not and would not hurt an animal but I would not be able to restrain myself when it comes to my child. I was watching dateline tonight,and have also looked in on perverted justice.I think you(and NBC)as well as P.J.(perverted justice) have done an outstanding job in presenting this issue of perverts to America. During the show tonight a rep for PJ said they have not caught any women (almost for one) I find this verry easy to belive because of what I have read about PJ they seem to only target male pervs.. Belive me there are chat rooms out there where women go after 13 to 16 year old kids just like the guys you have caught. All in all you all have done areat job and am looking to see more episodes of To Catch a Predator.

Chris, your show is superb! I will be interested in reading your book to see more of the "inside story". I wondered if any of the judges would go on record as to why their sentences are so varied. From a few months in jail to several years in a Fed Prison, there seems to be no real deterent to this heinous crime, and any/all crimes against children can only be described as heinous! Georgia seems to be the most serious with their sentencing guidelines, yet most judges and lawmakers profess to be protectors of children and espouse the rights of an individual to be safe under the laws of our Constitution. A more fitting sentence would be to send all these perpetrators to a remote island for life, and let them fend for themselves by raising their own food supply to providing clothing to whatever is needed for their "survival". The intent for sex is there, hence the lengthy chat logs, and showing up at the scene. And what of the times these men have done this and didn't get caught? You can't possibly believe that this is their "first time"!! Maybe in your interest to catch women "at the game", you should go to the classroms!! Keep up the good works. You are welcome to come to Central Florida where most people think they are "safe" from such people!

I was wondering are you going to do a broadcast in the future on sex offenders who recieve, and complete treatment successfully to see if threapy really works. I personally believe it does. I am at the end of my treatment about to take my exit polygraph test. Watching your show and the therapy I have recieved helped me turn someone in that was in my group just two weeks ago. He was posing as a 17 year old in the Myspace Utah chat room. I know what I did was wrong and I did not want anyone else offended, So i took pictures of his profile and printed off the page and turned them into his probation officer. Again I would like to thank you for doing this show and showing how the internet can be abused.

Hip Hip Hooray for Dateline and it's show To Catch A Predator. I live in Troy, OH, and honestly, tonight's show made me sick as it relates to the sentences that the men in Greenville, OH have received as sentences. That is 25 miles from my home. I can't believe that 11 months is the worst sentence that any of those sickos has received. Big deal. Kudos to the state of Georgia for handing out sentences to these predatory pedophiles that they deserve. With all the arrests I see on TV, it really makes me question two things: 1) how many people are out there and actually meeting underage kids, because I'm sure the men getting caught are only a tiny fraction compared to those who actually do it and get away with it, and 2) why do these men, knowing there is law enforcement and TV shows out there posing as minors, why do these men make and try to keep these dates? Sick. I don't let my 13 yr. old daughter have access to chat rooms, where are the parental controls? Also, to address Darrell from NY's comment: I don't believe that they stated that women aren't predators...they just said that they haven't caught any yet. Think about it, if you fish in a lake that is 99% bass, and 1% catfish, most of your catch will be bass, but sooner or later, you'll get a catfish. I believe that there Are women pedophiles too, but perhaps they just prefer other methods to catching their prey than by using online means....like being a teacher, babysitter, or some other 'trusted' position.

Chris: Thanks for ALL you have done and please keep on doing it! I know that your life and reputation is on the line, but THIS work is sooo important! Your show has been a great way for me to open up discussions with my 13-year-old daughter, who still wants to think that everyone can be trusted; she has been introduced to "Myspace" and a few other chat areas through a few of her friends. I have ways to monitor and restrict these activities at home, but not when she is visiting friends whose parents don't watch so closely. This had been a hard reality for her, but a great discussion for us. PLEASE do a show in a smaller midwestern town, like on the West Michigan lakeshore. . .or at least something similar, so the public will realize that these kinds of problems exist at even the most remote areas of our Great Country. I also must say that I am appalled that the individual's caught receive, at best, rather light sentences given the predatory nature of what they have done. And especially for those that are repeat sexual offenders. This is the most henious crime next to murder; at least with murder, the victim is dead and suffers no more (but their families do). With sexual assault, the victim lives dead for the rest of their life; it affects them emotionally, spiritually, physically, and greatly and adversely impacts one's ability to be close and trusting of anyone ever. That goes for those offended as children, teens, college-age, or adults. I personally believe that the criminal justice system is way too soft and these types of crimes; perhaps that is because most judges and attorneys are men and most victims are female? I don't know. But to tear out the heart of a child is deplorable. Go for it. Don't stop until the message results in some significant changes on the internet. . .AND in the Courts!

Dear Chris, I think what your doing is great! My daughter was digitally raped for two years by my husbands father. She was between 6-8 years of age. After I found out about it I had him prosicuted but, he got off. Then three years later I find out he has done it again to another one of his grandchildren. Because of his relationship with authorties in his community he only got three months in jail and ten years probation. He is on the predator list but, how many people look at who in their neighborhood is a pedafile? My daughter is seventeen now and still has nightmares. I'm still very angry over it all. I'm glad to see someone is doing something. These guys don't get better.

Dateline has hit a home run in "To Catch A Predator" and has my vote in making it a separate program into itself to regularly expose criminals preying on children, their apprehension, prosecution and sentencing. You are doing a great public service in exposing these criminals and it would be an added service to identify the judges in their respective states who are giving inadequate sentences allowing these criminals to return to molesting children. I believe if the inept judges are identified, the citizens will then know who should be removed from the bench. I hope "To Catch A Predator" evolves into a weekly series such as "America's Most Wanted" to continue to incarcerate criminals. Thank you.

Thank you for your investigations. I keep thinking they have to dry up at some point, eventually but alas I've been a female internet user for many many years and I know how many are out there and I'm old, 40. My husband accidently found out as well, while playing Othello using my ID on yahoo. Now I will tell you he had some fun with my ID (and it was pretty darn funny) but he's 42 and not a female, so it was entertaining simply because it was once. However, my question is this? What about the men's families, everytime you get one, I always think about their poor wives & children. What are their stories? Did they suspect? What do they do now? And how can we help them? To do well and be well? Also, I would like to see stories on these men, when it started and why? To me this is crazy, that you would do anything that would risk your income or family. What makes them do it? Are they all Narcissit(sp)? Let's keep doing what we're doing by getting them off the street (except California) but let's do a round robin on the entire story? If we don't understand the whole picture, we'll never be able to protect ourselves, nor fix what we don't understand. I have been watching all the Catch A Predator shows to date.I think your doing a great job and keep it up.There were 2 thoughts that came to mind tonight after watching the behind scenes episode.One thought might sound somewhat stupid but it is a curiousity.Have you ever so far had a guy that lied about his age to pretend he was older and that in fact he turned out to be,lets say, 17 year old? I know some of the guys thats been caught so far would say they were younger when in fact they were older but the thought that a 17 year old would say he is older to impress a younger girl. And the second thought I think would be a appropiate question,since doing the show have you had any children that has been a victim from before and come forward when they recognized one of the guys youve caught on the show? I mean I am sure some of the children would be afraid to admit this but then I am thinking that maybe someone might come forward too. It is hard for me to understand why people are so sick to want to take advantage of young children. Keep up the good work.

To Chris Hansen, et al: Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart for the strength,courage and perserverence you found, and all those who assisted you, to expose evil, for that is what it is. I can empathize with how difficult this must have been for everyone on a personal level; something not easily left at the office. I don't think society fully appreciates the wide-ranging costs of this crime and how poorly we care for our children. As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse a.k.a. terrorism, as a toddler to eleven years old and long after years of therapy dedicated to healing, becoming whole and finding peace, I learned that people who commit these crimes are not only predators but soul thiefs who rob us of our potential as human beings; they leave behind them a horrible wake of devastation. I could only watch a few of your programs as it was too painful to revisit complete selfishness and lack of compassion. I appreciated this evenings program particularly the follow-up on judicial proceedings,a fuller picture of these men and what happens to their families. I am disappointed by the short sentences with the exception of those in Alabama, was it? I disagree with Mr. Schilling's stance on letting these criminals free knowing that there is no known cure for the majority of these soul thiefs and that they will continue to victimize others. Can we really afford millions more of the walking wounded? My only request is that you focus more on the impact of these crimes on their victims, for years if not forever, so that, hopefully, it might create an essential and missing understanding that we are in desperate need of. Thank you for making a tremendous difference. May the force be with you.

Chris.... Refretably this story could and SHOULD be a weekly show of it's own. Years ago myself and a girlfriend would catch scum like that onlne, read their homepage info and email transcripts to their ISP and employers.It is GREAT to see there is an organisation constantly chasing these people down and I try to make it a ommitment to watch Dateline JUST for these reports. Being a divorced father of 2 young girls who are computer and internet savvy already...I support your efforts 1000%...... I am a Field Technology Officer/IT Specialist/Network Admin/Computer Specialist for the DHS. I encourage my Ex-Wife (with whom I am still extremely close to) to allow my daughters to watch these shows. God bless....this IS the best thing on any TV channel....it protects our young in a new time of extreme information technology and communication. The Internet is the future regardless of what we may want to accept. It IS the future of worldwide communications whether it be personal or professional. It's the equivalent to the onset of telephone communications....it was probably viewed with a not so serious edge then....much like the Internet now. To protect our young.....the most important thing we can do.....keep doing it....You have touched into a virtual nerve of the nation and those that chose to use the medium of the future need to realize it will NOT be their disgusting playground!!!

My friends and I are avid "To Catch A Predator" fans. Our jaws drop at the stupidity of these pedophiles and of course, we all wait for those words, "Well, I'm Chris Hansen from..." It's kind of strange to get enjoyment from seeing these criminals get popped, but we look forward to it, only to have the show disappear as quickly as a new investigation airs. Is there any way a DVD box set can come out of this? I loved the wrap-up show and thought it was great to see the folks over at Perverted-Justice talk about the process. That said, I'm ashamed of our judicial system for giving these pedophiles such light sentences and completely agree with the lawman from Georgia who spoke of the priority of protecting the kids. Probationary rulings pop up all over the place, namely Vermont, and I just can't believe with that much evidence, that's all they got! Anyway, barring the DVD box set with Dell and Chris Hansen commentary, please bring back more "To Catch A Predator" investigations. There's no doubt, after three years running, Chris and the gang could go to any city and still find these criminals lurking behind their keyboards. Thanks Dateline, PJ and Chris Hansen...now if we could only get Stone Phillips greeting the pedophiles as they run away from Chris! Ok, maybe that's taking it a bit far. Now I have to order a book!

I think Mr Schuller's belief's are biased and hopeful. I believe child predators repeat their activities and cannot be rehabilitated. It is like a sick addiction. The one thread that seems to be true of many molestors is that they have been molested. I think laws should be made more stiff to punish their actions.

I think what you are doing is wonderful however, I think more should be done to help the teens who are actually meeting these adults. Isn't there some way of setting up some sort of operation to "catch" the teens and get them help. I think they need some sort of help or guidance to let them know what they are doing could hurt them or worse. I think we as a society should help these teens just as much as we are trying to get these predators off the streets.

If a parent doesn't know how to block their child from the internet or what they are doing or how they are doing it, then they do not need to let their kid ON the computer PERIOD, end of story. The only thing I find interesting about this show is how wierd some of tehse folks are. I there are fireman, doctors, marines, etc... doing some things you would never expect. But seriously, where do you guys FIND THESE PEOPLE!??!?! AOL, because AOL sucks... thats how people probably get in trouble in the first place. If you just get high speed internet, all you need is AIM or some kind of chat program and the only screen names you should have are those people that you know that share your name with you. Have you folks EVER considered questiong the company or program software company that develop these chat rooms? If a 12-17 child is dumb enough to get on the internet to do bad things, you have to wonder... where are the parents?!?!?!?!?!? WHAT ARE THE PARENTS DOING!!?!?!? One guy tonight is on his third strike and will "have his last breath in prison" but as a taxpayer I have to say I'm not so happy. Chris, this is outstanding work. It's refreshing to see a reporter who is committed to addressing this issue. I spent 12 years in law enforcement, the majority of the time hunting violent and predatory criminals, and I see the same behaviors being exhibited in these suspects as I witnessed during countless investigations. My one criticism, if it can be called that, is actually one that relates more to your safety and the safety of officers and the Perverted Justice team. Are you guys preparing profiles of these suspects prior to their arrival? One case immediately comes to mind, that of the district attorney who committed suicide. I was concerned that the assisting police chief was "amazed" by the suicide of the suspect. A simple profile would have established that he was in fact an extremely high risk for suicide if confronted under specific circumstances. The issue of the police officer who attended one of the locations armed with a small arsenal is another example where a profile would have helped prepare you, your team and the assisting officers. I know a number of authorities on violent and predatory criminals who would be extremely interested in providing their services for free to help - me included. Regardless, I'm impressed by your commitment and by the commitment of the volunteers from Perverted Justice.

I work with children at a residental treatment home for sexual offenders in southern Oregon. I know frist hand that treatment works, but people have to be willing to do what it takes to help. These children are hurt, scared and angery. Please help them move on with thier life by giving them a second chance. They are only children and most of them were victims too. They learned it somewhere.

Dear Chirs- I was lloking for something to watch this evening and came across your piece "To Catch a Predator Piece". As a former national news producer for Fox News Channel and mother of 2 small girls, I tend to steer away from this kind of show. But I found your piece very provacative and well done. It drew me in immediately. It made me sick. I personally will monitor my children's internet activity very closely. I don't allow my 8 year old on the computer and it scares me to think about what might happen in the future when I do decide that she can be on the computer. But that doesn't necessarily protect them from sexual predator's. I myself was walking to a tennis lesson with friends in 8th grade when a man exposed himself to us. It happens and we all need to be very aware of how vulnerable our children are. What I find maddening and unjust is how the legal system really doesn't work in our chidlren's favor. 1 year, 3 years for violating a child or thinking about violating a child? It has been proven that rehabilition never really happens in jail and actually isn't very successful. Why don't lawmakers do more to protect our kids and throw these sick people away? I think your show is doing a lot of good spreading the word about what can happen, etc....but I would love to see some kind of follow-up as to the law and how little it does to protect our kids. They basically get off scott free. A few years in jail is nothing in return for the life-long pain they have caused these children. I know it is popular to believe in the legal community that jail terms are not going to solve what is labeled as a disease, but it has been proven that recidivism is high among this group. What is more important the life and future sanilty of a young boy or girl or the freedom of a heinous predator? Thank you for profiling these sick human beings. But frankly, that is not enough. Can't Dateline go a step further and confront the lawmakers to make serious changes about how we prosecute these people? We need more Bill O'Reilly's. He's next on my list. Karen Campbell

I can't praise Dateline enough for the service they are doing in getting these predators off the streets but, unfortunately, I know this is only the smallest tip of the iceberg. I have to disagree with the Seattle police officer who feels that these guys can be reformed. My daughter was the victim of a sexual predator who stocked and kidnapped her when she was 9 at a park near our home. She was smart and lucky enough to escape and, having scratched him, got his DNA on her swimsuit. He had brutally raped another girl a year earlier, and they had no suspects in that case until my daughter's composite sketch identification caught his brother's attention. He was an honest person and turned in a dangerous criminal who happened to be one of his own family. Her attacker is serving 30 years, an exceptional sentence, but nowhere near as long as the sentence he imposed on my daughter, my family, my neighbors, friends and community. One common link I have learned of is that they all use child pornography for personal gratification first. Thirteen years ago when my daughter was violated, chat rooms were virtually unheard of. I can only imagine what they have manifested. Keep up the good work. The families of potential victims need all the help they can get protecting their children.

I am an attorney and have a case where a female predator (sex addict) went after a younger man who was in Iraq. When he tried to break it off upon his return to the states, she went beserk and has been stalking him and trying to destroy his family and his life! Even though both were consenting adults and now it is over. She just will not accept it. He has injuries from his tour of duty in Iraq and needs to heal them, but she keeps trying to punish him. Somebody needs to cover such sick conduct by women, too. And yes, there are female sex addicts out there. This woman is the first internet pornographic abuser that I have seen or heard of in my business, but it has been impossible to get anybody to hold her accountable for her criminal behavior. Thank you so much for your work on this show bringing this problem to everyones attention, also for letting everyone know how long the sentences were for the crime. I think all of us need to push for a more effective way of keeping these sickos away from innocent children. It was appalling that the average jail time wasn't even a year for some of these people. The nation needs to have a universal sex offender law so these criminals can't move to another state to avoid harsher penalties while commiting more crimes. Along with jail time, I suggest making the criminal pay a huge fine and also give them a branding of some sort to curb them from doing this again. Since a lot of these men have seen the tv show and still take the risk to do the same thing, there needs to be something more severely done than a slap on the wrist. Maybe then it might curb some of the men that said they weren't really there to have sex with the child. Keep up the good work and I will be writing my congressmen/women on this subject and I encourage everyone else to do the same.

It's hard to fathom drug possession crimes and such are treated more harshly than attempted child molestation. Time did not permit me to read all of the blogs, so forgive me if I am repeating what anyone else has to say. I want to commend your show on the work it's done exposing so many of these creeps who have never been charged and have been loose on the streets to prey on minors. It's noteworthy to see how many of them have no criminal history whatsoever....it tells me that this is far more prevalent than what anyone would like to admit. However, I do have to say one thing...does anyone else find it ludicrous that, when the show goes to station break, the first thing we see is a commercial advertising Viagra???? I don't mean to sound offensive, but this is a sore point with me....after spending two years caring for a terminally ill friend who died of Huntington's, and finding out how under-funded some of these degenerative diseases that people die of every day are, merely because the pharmaceutical companies don't consider research in these areas to be profitable enough, given that not a big percentage of the population falls victim to these diseases (thus it would not be as profitable for the drug companies)....and then to see all the millions of dollars of research and funding going to medications like Viagra, so that men can 'perform' until they're 105...................I think it's a sad commentary, especially to see this during a show such as your own. It seems to me that we have a double standard in this....we send a message that it's definitely wrong for older men to 'desire' younger girls, and then we throw commercials at them expounding on the benefits of taking medications that enhance sexual performance.....what is WRONG with this picture?? Maybe I'm just old and crotchety, but the whole thing just makes me sick. And to see this commercial while watching your show made me even sicker.

I just wanted to say that I think this series is wonderful!! I was wondering if you will ever be coming to Indiana? I ask because I have a daughter she is 13 until tomorow, we have a problem similiar to these. There is a 45 year old man, he is the father a a guy she used to be friends with, that has been talking to her. It is more tan just that, she sent him an email that we founds telling him he promised he would never leave her and he promised to take her away from here. We have not found any emails discussing sexual encounters yet, but we have contacted child protective services about it, we have tried to get a restraining order against this man just to be told that unless my 13 year testifies that e has done something to her or that she is afraid of him they cannot grant it. CPS has tried to help us, hey even called our local police who believe there is more to it than my daughter will admit to but there is just no proof yet so they cannot do any thing. I always thought that a restraining order was meant to protect something from happening not after something has happened. I would think that if something had happened he would be in jail and we would not need a restaining order. I have caught her sneeking out of the house once even, I am assuming to try and meet him but she says no to go for a walk. I am scared and dont know what else to do or where to turn. I dont want to wait until something happens to destroy her innocence before anyone will do something. She thinks it is innocent but yet last summer his wife called some of my daughters friends and their parents sayng my daughter was a tramp and a few other things I cannot repeat on this site. We have our computer in our living room and can see the screen no matter where we sit in that room but these days they can get online anyplace even McDonalds, they have internet computers at the mall even. The schools have them, they are everywhere. We know from some of the emails she has sent to him that we found that he set up this email account on yahoo just for talking to her and as the address you would think would be a childs address. We also found out from having the police search our hard drive hat she as set up several yahoo accounts for herself as well and that we did not know about most of them. I am trying to do things by the book but I am frusterated and scared to deather for her safety. Do you have any advice fo me or parents like me that may help me keep her safe. I am afraid to go to sleep for fear she will sneak out to meet him. Please let me know if you have any advice. Thank you so much!!!

Dear Mr. Hansen, I love your show about catching predators. It is vital, and has called attention to just how easy predators slip in and out of peoples lives. Not to mention all the damage they may do. Who knows but what one or more may be a killer, and not just a person out to take advantage of one who makes herself appear naive and easily taken advantage of. But I have a suggestion for this show. In light of the way women are just as much predators today for our children, just as men. Why not do a show and see if you could draw out the females who are doing similar things. I believe you could catch some of them because if they are willing to be in a position of teaching our children and become predators right in school, I think there may also be some who search the web for the same reasons. Hope you will check into a show like this. Who knows what you may find?! I applaud your show for the wonderful job you have done and the attention it has brought to what is a huge problem and you have only opened the tip of the iceburg. Thank you so much!

I think that the work being done is very good, but Also, what about "Female Predators?" Doesn't sound realistic? Or how about neglectful parents? Parents who leave their children that unsupervied are criminals too, just a personal thought. As effective as this show is, it is also very biased, the overwhelming majority of the people caught are men. My advise, if parents would really like to keep their kids safe, I suggest you supervise your children while they are online.

I am a Myspace user. I have heard of the rumors surrounding the sight. I watch Dateline to Catch a Predator, when I can (I work nights most of the nights dateline is aired). I know for a fact that one of my friends on my myspace spot isn't 16 years old more like 10, however, even after I confronted her about her age, it hasn't changed and she hasn't commented. Now this is a sensitive subject, because if you're underage on "Myspace" you can't make a space unless you lie or your parents give the "OK". I learned this because I was going to make a myspace spot for my cat. Can you get it.. funny daily cat blogs... Who by our age is way underage but by cat years is way beyond ours. However, that is neither here nor there, just a learning experience. How, or maybe why, needs to be checked into as to why these children have such access with all the perimieters parents have the ability to use? I am not excusing preditors, parents or the children making contact! Keep up the great work on catching your predators!! However, there are parental controls online for parents, maybe they need to learn some? And for the children abusing these sights, maybe they need some counseling?

I am a merchant who suffered from such scams, I think you should mention in your report that almost 100% of the time, the merchantg is the loser as the credit card companies such as Visa/MaserCard will simply issue a charge back, and the merchant not only end up losing the money as the credit card recoup the funds from the merchant, they will also add insult to injury by charging the merchant an additional $25 processing fees. Great work catching these guys. However, the officers are using excessive force on these guys as they exit the house! Most of the guys are in the process of getting down on the ground when they are literally plowed down (you can't even do that in professional football after the ball is dead!) and using words such as, "Get your ass down" is very unnecessary. I was abhored when the officers threw a man to the ground causing him to be taken to the emergency room because of the excessive force. The man had his hands in the air for goodness sake!

I really just want to say some things about the system that fallows the sex crimes that are happening. I feel it is a great thing that you are doing the online to catch a predator but what about these families of these men? I am a survivor if that is what you want to call it. My daughter was molested by her father and I have done nothing but suffer for his ignorance. I want to say that there is not enough support in our court systems for these children. They are not very nice in court either. My daughter who was 12 when it happened immediately told but when we went to court she was expected to recall every little thing and it is horrible. It was an election year so the prosecutor was really pushing for my daughter to say all the things that were needed to make the conviction but to hell with the feelings of sitting in the court room looking at the man who did this to her. There are no support groups for me to take her to and people just dont want to discuss it but once again what about the children and people involved. I was working but lost my job during all of this and now I feel there should be funding to assist people. I am ready to loose my house and he was the money maker in my family and that is just one minor tragedy. I guess all I am saying is where is America and how come there is not more assistance for these children.

On tonight's show, you briefly touched on the issue of female sex offenders. According to Department of Justice statistics, only 1% of those arrested for rape are women. In 2006, women comprised 6% of total arrests (not convictions) for other sex offenses. For those who ask why only men have been featured on the show, the obvious answer lies in the statistics: men commit a disproportionate number of sex crimes.

I just wanted to thank you for bringing this issue to the public's attention and for exposing and arresting sex offenders that may have otherwise been off the radar. Before your program, predators didn't have to worry about being exposed to the public. They were undercover. In our neighborhoods, our churches, our schools, and our homes. EVERY woman in my life- my sisters, my friends, my mom- has been raped or molested by a step-father, a teacher, a babysitter's boyfriend, a churchmember, a total stranger. I've heard all of their stories. So many of these stories are never told. The fear of rape is one that all women have to live with everyday. It's something we consider when we would like to go out for a jog or just to grab a carton of milk. No matter how nice the neighborhood, the fear never goes away. It is tragic that even children are not safe.

Please continue your coverage on this issue. There is no doubt that you are having a positive impact.

We have been watching this series in our area and with both of us having teenage and grown children, this has been very interesting. My question is.....all that is shown on TV is about men seeking minors for sex, what about the women out there that are doing the same thing? I know some of some sites that will let women access for possible dates, etc., and I can almost feel assured that there are just as many women out there doing the same thing with young boys and/or girls as there are men, but the focus seems to be centered around the men.

Chris, I believe your show is the best thing ever since television was created. It is imperitive for people to know and be aware of who their neighbor, prosecutor, judge, officer, military persons, street people, school janitors, etc.. are. I was molested as a child, I feel no guilt or sadness for any of these predators. I grew up on an Indian Reservation and I worked as a G.A.L in another Reservation. Too many of these sexually violent predators are working their way onto our Reservations because they are harder to find and the prosecution is minimal. Therefore, I firmly believe, "To Catch A Predator" is keeping these sick individuals on their toes and out of trouble. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication.

Mr. Hansen - despite many messages praising your show, it really takes the coward's way out. The largest danger to underage targets of sex offenders is not someone showing up invited at their doorstep to be easily arrested (and publicly humiliated) by you and your volunteer group of 'non-professionals'.
As we've seen too often with the high-profile stories on (mostly white) children abducted off the street or from their houses, these crimes are frighteningly difficult to solve & often are only resolved following the discovery of the victim's body. By reveling in the shame of much easier targets for your 'sting' operation, and making no distinction between truly dangerous repeat offenders looking for actual children & others who might never attempt something similar again, you are sending a dangerous message to a viewing audience that sincerely wants something to be done about this crime. Child predators are out there, but by only concentrating on the easiest ones for you to catch (after what might easily be considered entrapment given the behavior of the amateur crew that set up these prime-time 'displays') you simultaneously make the problem seem far more of an all pervasive threat than it is, and diminish the attention on the worst of the agressors: those smart enough to lure kids out of the comfortable environment you set up. (All the easier to focus your cameras in, of course) For anyone who thinks you would continue to do these shows if they weren't pulling in high ratings, or if the high ratings themselves might be a powerful incentive to circumvent normal legal procedures that might lead to actual (but much less cinematic) arrests, they should only look to what happened recently in your experience in Murphy, Texas. You may think you're doing a service, but whatever help you're providing by taking a potential threat off the street (or off this planet, as in the suicide of of of your Texas targets) is off-set by the incredible damage you do in turning your show into a truly disgusting display of public humiliation for its own sake. You should take some time away from the next comfortable suburban house you choose, and head to areas of this country where children (non-white) have to put up with horrific real dangers on a daily basis that don't wait to be cordially invited inside with a six-pack of wine coolers. I'm sure your producers realize the true 'value' of your show lies outside of any actual help you might think you're providing to protect children - hence the continual attempts to get your targets 'naked'. But if you want to get out of this with your journalistic integrity intact (if that even has any meaning anymore) you should quit trolling the internet for the easiest kind of predator to catch and attempt to do something that would truly help at-risk children.

What you are doing is awesome! I just read the BS about the last TCAP in Texas, and I think it is ridiculous. A prosecutor who feels he cannot do his job based on what you guys do may be hiding something himself. As far as what the "community" supposedly said about not wanting you there, that makes me suspicious too. I have a child in my own home and if I found out that you were next door catching these evil people I would come over and commend you and shake your hand. You are doing a GREAT service to those of us with young children, and those who cannot see that need to question themselves WHY. What is wrong with those in society and especially those with young children who cannot see the good in this? SHAME on you if you cannot see that! On tonights show when you were posed with the question, "Why don't you go after female perditors" you answerd that it was because females are "closer" to those that they sexually abuse. I dont buy this answer. It is like you are saying, female preditors are more comfy with their victims. Why not put as much focus on catching these preditors as you do on catching men? I think that you will find that your program will continue on for a longer period of time. Also, is there some way that we could see the entire conversations that these perverts carry with their victims instead of just a few lines? Entrapment concerns me. These people both male and female need to be caught for these things that they do. However, if we could see and read the entire conversations, doubts of misjustice would be snuffed. We all, I am sure, have come accross a chat friend from now and then, that lies about their ages to trap or intimidate people. However, at least you are trying to do something about the abuse that goes on online, so I tip my hat. Just stop the bias. For decades females have had the right by social warp to do as they please towards boys and men, just as did priests. Stop the ignorance and blindness now.

Just watched a funny occurance on the show at Flagler Beach FL and had to email you. The second person on the show had a wall of "starfish" etc behind him and when I glanced up at the TV, the legs of one of the starfish looked like an extension of his nose as the person was clearly lying to one of Chris Hanson's questions. Both my daughter,age 14, and I have watched your show repeatedly, but to my dismay my daughter went into a chat room not on the computer, but on her phone (the chat room I believe is called Rables). The predator age 28 is in the military and has of yet to be charged, even though, she was found in his company and they both at the time admitted he kissed her and rubbed her back, much more had happened, which was not disclosed at the time, he was not arrested. I have a case sitting on the procecuting attorney's desk (I believe it's in the history stage). My questions are these: My daughter has had an interview in the county in which the sexual assault took place, the sexual protection order in in another county (the one in which we live), (he took her 40 miles away), the judge has ordered her to be present during the hearing, the judge is allowing her to be on the phone for this part. I am concerned that this is not necessary due to the fact that I am her parent requesting the order to protect her, and because she had already been interviewed. Is it necessary to vitimize her again? Can we get the order without her testimony? What can we do? Court is Monday 12.17.07. Thank you Chris for your help, and please check out the site rables.

Children these days are ALL over the internet, they post information about themself that preditors will treasure. everyday the preditor talks to the children, they ask a little more information from the child and save that information until they have enough info to find them and its so sad how many children have been home alone and have had someone show up at their front door.To catch a preditor is a great show. Hi my name is misty bailey and i have a neice living with me she is 17 and i let her chat online with friends i thought i was carefull i even supervise for lack of better words her conversations and the other day she was talking to waht i thought was a nice guy so i said that he could call her but i wanted it to be on speakerphone so that i can hear when she picked up he answered and i could tell right away something was weird so i tried to have her get some information out of him but he wouldnt give it all i have is his yahoo id he was very creepy about everything asking if any1 touched her when she was young and such. i remembered seeing the how to catch a preditor on tv so i thought id write and see what i could come up with here and see if we could bust him or something
