My prayers were with Elizabeth and her family throughout the whole ordeal. I live in the same town as Elizabeth, and my daughter goes to school with her and It was almost unreal that something like this happened, espically in our wonderful little community. I am so glad and thankful that she was found and that her abductor is put away. As far as I am concerned, he should be put under the prison, just like he put Elizabeth (underground).

After ordeal, kidnapper wilts and teen shines

I leave right down the street from her. Elizabeth is my cousin and I was in the courtroom when the judge sentenced that evil man 100 plus years without the possibility of parole. I understand that in many of these incidents it does turn out that a missing child has run away. But with the same principled conviction and zeal that we consider a possible perpetrator innocent until proven guilty, couldn't there be a way to extend this attitude toward the possible victim? It seems that after knowing Elizabeth's parents after a short period of time, it would have been determined that a profile of this young lady, confirmed by her teachers and friends, would differentiate her from a likely runaway. And in any case, if the Amber alert is activated at once...the way it is designed to be used, wouldn't it be better to chance rescuing willful a runaway in that net rather than miss the chance to find a kidnap victim in time to save her life? My heart goes out to this wonderful young woman and her family. She is an inspiration to us all.

After ordeal, kidnapper wilts and teen shines

I was the victim of a stalker for 1 1/2 yrs and raped by him the next and stalked another 1 yr before he was caught. Children coming to and from school are at one of the highest risks for abduction. Yet, this is one area in prevention eduction that is the least spoke of. Parents, teachers, and law enforcement all need to do better at teaching personal safety strategies for children walking to and from school and their buses. In addition, I want to express sincere thanks to Elizabeth for a few things. First, for being so strong and creative in her escape. It sends a message to us all that there is hope in these cases. It also speaks volumes on how important it is to teach our kids to think, be asertive and to question adult's actions in the right fashion. God Bless you Elizabeth! What difference does it make if a child is a runaway or an abductee? Police should take the word of the family that knows their children and issue the Amber Alert immediately, What does it hurt? It could save a childs life? Why wait? If the child is Missing, there should be no question! These scums of the earth that prey on children should be put to death the first time they are arrested. They are useless!!!They have no place in society as far as I am concerned. Why do they keep letting them out to continue to prey on these defenseless little children! It is ridiculous.. We hear more and more of this everyday. Until they make the consequences tough, they will continue to do so. I for one and tired of paying for these leaches on society.

After ordeal, kidnapper wilts and teen shines

You are the one of the strongest and bravest people, Elizabeth! Your story hits close to home. I am in my forties now but as a young girl I was abused by my mothers boyfriend both mentally and physically. He did not kidnap me though,we lived in the same house and I remember I had to pretend that I liked him at some point, Lots of survival ideas came to my head. I burned his house down. This was an attempt to split the family up,but the family got back closer together. Eventually I ran away from home, because my mom did not believe me when I told her what happen. It's too much for me to tell Elizabeth but my ordeal made me stronger and I hope It made you stronger too. Thank God we are still alive. God has a plan in store for you.
My situation happened in Jamaica WI. I think Elizabeth that you are a HERO to all who have come to know you through this terrible ordeal... I will keep you in my thoughts a prayers. I hope that you will grow to be a strong and wonderful person that can take this horrific incident and turn it into something positive. It is hard to do with what you have been through.. Remember that counselors are there to help you.. and you should use them.. I have worked with abused children and I know that you will have a tough road ahead of you.. I have also been abused myself.. certainly not to the degree that you have been. But it does help to talk about it. It does help to confirm your fears as well as your hapiness. Don't let anyone or anything take your spirit. You have such a good start with all the support you have from your family. Also remeber that your family is your most important people. Sometimes you have others who will step in and try to take their place.. Do not let them.. Your family is your support... keep them close.. and let them do what they do best.. and that is to be a family... sleep well knowing that before you go to bed at night that you can think of positive things and that will help you to keep that bad things out of your dreams.. but it takes time and practice.. Just lay and think of all the things you love the most each nite and soon you will have good dreams.. that is what I had to do. I have not had a nightmare in 20 something years since I have been doing the positive thinking before bedtime.. I pray that it helps you.

After ordeal, kidnapper wilts and teen shines

Elizabeth, you are soooo strong, and amazing might I add. You are my hero as you have done the thing I was never brave enough to do. You tricked, out witted (whatever) your abuser and he is now in a position where he can never harm you or anyone else again. I know you know this but it must be said, Love each other and hold dear to each precious moment you have with your loved ones. Enjoy life each day and try not to let fear keep you prisoner (as it does me). In the morning I am going to my ex-husbands house to see my kids, and I will tell them all of your bravery. I can only hope that my daughter will listen to your story and realize it could happen to her so she should be carefull. I have done everything I can to balance her natural feelings of invinceability with the dangers of the world, but she still believes at 14 that nothing could ever happen to her. I believe your story will teach her a lot of things, bravery under dire circumstances, and possibly how to avoid getting into situations that could lead to a dangerous path. I will pay more in taxes or what ever it takes to build more prisons to keep these monsters off the street.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Elizabeth and her family.

After ordeal, kidnapper wilts and teen shines

I just wanted to acknowledge your bravery and strength. My husband and I just watched the show, and i think that you are the strongest girl that we have ever encountered. You keep your head up and stay strong. Know that you have alot of prayers out there!!!!

After ordeal, kidnapper wilts and teen shines

Elizabeth,
I just watched your story 3 times. I am a 12 year old girl and just listened to every detail of your story. I can understand how bad it feels to know that your lost your virginity to a rapist. I understand that telling your story is hard, but don't be afraid to tell it. The world needs to know that Guys can't be crazy to us young teens. I hope you keep on shining knowing that his will die in his prison cell knowing that he ruined your life. You are an inspiration to me and I am so happy you are alive.
