As a Very old Registered Nurse, I was working in Insulin Therapy (for Psychotic Patients) when I relieved another nurse in being in charge.
One of the patients was not drowsy which was not her usual behavior at that phase of Treatment. Soon, she complained of being short of breath. I checked her lung sounds=normal, but she grew more distressed.

A lightning bolt hit my intuition. The preceding RN had given her a shot of Succinlycholine, not Insulin.
I called the Attending Psychiatrist, who came down, and agreed with my observation. I specialed the patient the rest of the shift, and the Doctor appreciated my alertness. The other RN was not sanctioned, because the Administrator liked her a lot.
(This was in the late '60's or early '70's.)

I actually knew Kathy personally and worked on her campaign for state controller, I have had many sleepless nights wondering what the motive was....anyone else have any possible ideas???

Yes, Mr. Higgs was found guilty of killing his wife kathy augistine in june 2007.. He is already appealing for a new trial

i think that maybe higgs was just wanting out of his marriage and since he is an RN thought that he had found the way to committ murder and when he was caught had no recourse but to do what he did try to take his own life.
