WHEN THE WIFE GOT CORNERED IN THAT SMALL KITCHEN ,WHERED DID YOU PEOPLE EXPECT HER TO GO? WHEN A GUY IS IN A RAGE ,HE DOESN'T KNOW NOR CARES WHAT HE WILL DO TO A WOMEN . I HAVE BEEN THERE IN HER POSITION
I GOT CHOKED ,COULDN'T BREATH & KNOW WHERE TO RUN. AND AFTER CALLING POLICETHEY CAME & DID NOTHING BUT GIVE A SPEACH TO HIM . EVEN CONSIDERING THIS WASN'T THE 1ST TIME CORNING ME. EVEN AFTER 45YRS OF MARRIAGE
& NOW 52 YRS STILL GOES INTO RAGES CALLS TERRIBLE NAMES, CUSES AT ME , EVEN AFTER ME HAVING OPEN HEART SURGERY. WHAT DO WE WOMEN HAVE TO DO TO STAY SAFE IN A MARRIAGE? BECAUSE PUBLIC CAN SEE INTO THE WALLS WHAT GOES ON WE AREN'T BELIEVED WHEN TELLING ABOUT HUSBAND ABUSE THAT GOES ON. SOMETHING JUST WASN'T RIGHT WITH THE JURY'S THINKING . I WONDER IF ANY OF THOSE WOMEN WERE EVER CHEATED ON, OR PUT UP WITH RAGE IN A MAN? SHAME ON THEM NOT BELIEVING HER. AND THE GIRLFRIEND HAD NO RIGHT EVPRESSING HER OPINION AT THE END OF TRIAL. THAT LADY SHOULD NOT HAVE SERVED A DAY
IN PRISON.

In my opinion the girlfriend should feel just as responsible for the Dr.'s death as the wife. She tried to make it sound like she had no fault in this sad story. In a way she is the one that pushed the Dr. into making a choice between her and his wife and that seemed like it escalated everyone's feelings before they were ready.

I have been blogging other sites with the very same story, battered women being prosecuted and persecuted by the laws in this country and the 'men' who administer them.
I have read a book called Justifiable Homocide by Cynthia Gillespie and I feel it's a must read for every woman in this 'free' country.
It's allright for a man to abuse his wife, but, OH HEAVEN FORBID that a woman should protect herself, even to the point of having to kill her abuser.

Teri Lee went to law enforcement time and time again for her situation and they blew her off. She and her husband are dead and the children are orphans because of an arrogant, abusive law enforcement and legal system.

Terri Shaivo is dead because the Judicial System decided her life was worth less than the blood money Michael got in the name of a multi-million life insurance policy that he had on her. She was just in the way.

Mary Winkler and Susan Polk dared to defend themselves and wound up in jail. I could go on and on and on and on.

Law enforcement did NOT protect any of these women and did not protect Phyllis and should be found criminally neglegent. The legal system has alot to answer up to also.

I, too, am a battered woman and I WILL NOT STOP speaking up until justice is served for all of the women who no justice.

If the husband had such a bad temper and Mary Jo was in the apartment and Phyllis was "relieved" why did Phyllis go into the apartment at 4:30 AM??? Phyllis already served papers for a divorce. There was NO reason to enter the apartment. According to her own testimony, he had a bad temper, she was relieved Mary Jo was there so he wouldn't hurt himself, plus he didn't answer the phone so either he didn't want to talk to her or couldn't talk to her. She went to him. His place. She invaded his life. She was wrong. She killed him. She lied. She didn't want a jury because she knew she would be sent to prison for life. Goes to show, money talks and justice can be bought.

They only showed the defense version. Why didn't they show both sides. None of the prosecution's side was shown. HHmmmmmmmmm, that's not fair. They showed all her supporters. Why didn't the tv viewers get to hear from the prosecution? I was very interested in their questions. Phyllis lied. She killed a man and got off easy. But then, she's rich off his money.

Husband, boyfriend, lover, whatever hitting on you, abusing you? One clear solution: You LEAVE. You don't go over to the man's house throwing shoes everywhere and antagonize him. We will NEVER know what really went down and most importantly, what she might've said to him behind closed doors to trigger this whole incident. I DON'T condone ANY man hitting or verbally abusing a woman (I have a daughter) but for Christ's sake, women shouldn't place themselves in a situation where he can do harm to them. One thing is certain, he would be alive with his new woman today and she would've been out of this mess if she simply hadn't gone over to his house. Stay the hell home.

I agree, with you Jeri. where can we go or "do," as a woman, of any age. What is our self-defense? I was in a abusive relationship for five years. Yes, I called the law enforcement many, many times. Not even one, of the many encounters domestic disputes, he was never put in handicuffs; but one restraining order stood out. I have to say the same as you did, Jeri, , Phyllis shouldn't have to spend one day behind bars, but in the law's eyes, unfortunately, she has to do. I'm not sure what the percentage is, but a man that kills his wife or girlfriend, he servess five years in prison. A woman life in prison! (Correct me if I'm wrong) Now show me justice! What is fair and not fair! See in these cases, nobody wins. Its damn if you do, damn if you don't! The man's dead and the wife is behind bars. Sure she's free from the abuse, but she's locked up. Come on she's been a prisooner all her life. She's not a serial killer; she's as human as I. I'll be pulling your way Phyllis.

I was also married to a doctor, my high school sweetheart. We dated 6 years and married 24 years making it a total of 30 years. Around our 15 wedding anniversay his personality began to change. He was cold-hearted, mean and angry to me all the time. I knew something was going on. I began to do my own PI work only to find out that he was having an affair with a nurse at his hospital. It got to the point where he moved out, divorce proceedings were started and lasted for 3 years. Soon after the divorce he and his mistress got married. I thank God every day that it didn't end like this couple. My heart was hurt badly but I managed to rise above it remembering what I promised myself a long time ago.........I will not be with someone who doesn't want to be with me!

If she was battered then why would she pursue him in his apartment. I'd stay in my own home- an obviously luxurious one in her case, and lock my doors. Seems to me she was looking for a fight and killed him out of a jealous rage.

Hello Phylis,

I totally understand how you feel when you found out him having an affair with Mary who is very bad ( when she knew that man is marrying and still jumping into his life) Mary must be punished since she caused the broken family and the death of this man.

They have not lived together so they are still ideal about their in love affair.

Hopefully the man will meet Mary Jo in the hell and two of them will have a happy married.
