I have been traveling to Myanmar for 9 years now. I also just returned from Myanmar at the end of March. I wrote a human interest story to submit to newspapers across the country and have sent it out to a few but have not seen anything printed yet. I was wondering if you want to read it and maybe put it up with a couple photos? I spent a lot of my time in the villages this year where people had not seen a foreigner since the Junta took over in 1962. It was awesome and the people everywhere are so loving, simple and beautiful. Everywhere I went they said thank you America for how you have helped us by sending people to teach etc. It is because of their inner strength that they have been able to survive this Regime for so many years. my photos are up on my web site. www.graphicsall.com

Traveling through Myanmar

Thanks Cathy, that was a nice reminder to me of how it was back in 2004, when I was fortunate to go to Myanmar. I visited my aunt, 2 cousins and 3 second cousins for the first time. The advice they gave me was for people to come to Myanmar, but to choose carefully where they spend their money. My first cousin also suggested that the policy of Aung Sung Su Kyi was wrong, for it hurt the people she was supposed to be for!

Traveling through Myanmar

This was a well written report. I traveled to Thailand for just over a month in "2000" and crossed the boarder entering Myanmar from Mae Sai. The people were very friendly and happy to see Americans. I plan on returning in "08" or "09". Thailand has had it's problems, since the Sunami. The people of Myanmar and Thailand are quiet hard working, and proud people.

Traveling through Myanmar

Nice story Cathy.
