Hi Pete, that's great that you're familiar with russian/soviet history. What makes you be so sure what russian cuurent ideology is like? Local media?There's 2 sides of the story. I'd recommend to get familiar with both sides before making such conclusions. Every country has historical facts not to be proud of and you can't call all germans NAZIs or all russians Commies. Don't you think it's unfair? I'm not trying to say Putin is not involved!!! All I'm trying to say is that you can't accuse somebody before it's proven.

I have some thoughts about this murder, but more importantly the reason this happens worldwide to people you may never know... but are your neighbors in a global sense.

To begin:
Because traces were found in the sushi place but not where they were sitting i wonder if maybe the killer(s?) were following him.  (just a thought)

There is too much info not reported in the NBC show, so it's hard to solve any more than just reading the forensics.  But, those facts include more than just the evidence in England.

The greed involved in killing a person who's opinion or understanding is different... is downright frightening and worldwide! To say and act that way will surely mean that if someone (Buddha, God, Mohammed, Jehovah, Jesus, Zeus, etc. etc.*) comes along and speaks differently or against the worldwide 'greed' or government and supporting corporate framework is killed or otherwise silenced... we the people may never hear his or her voice!  Pity, does that mean we'll build crosses that might come in the form of polonium? (i'm being rhetorical)   If you don't see that truth it's just because you don't want to!  We may have killed a God head... then many believe, the way we act (globally and personally) tell me that YOU ALL (not me) may kill the next one too.

Greed is in charge, it runs the government in every country.  It makes all the decisions.  Our "In God We Trust" country has in charge of it's fragile economy nothing but a bunch of 'money changers' called the stock market.

Jesus, would be angry with us to allow this 'greed for money thing' to control our lives, futures and very souls indeed!  There are other forms of greed, some for power, land, drugs, property, fame or sex (there are more, but you get the idea).  The cruelest poison to deliver from human to human is greed (and polonium is just one strain, lead is another, anthrax is too... etc.)  i know because it's been that way all my 'me generation' life, it's been that way at other times too, i know... but i'm alive now.  Take advantage while i'm here, the way things are going it may not be for much longer.  I am sorry i said what Jesus would do, i don't want to be connected with the hypocritical world of evangelistic preaching in anyway.  In fact no one can say what Jesus (or any Godhead name you choose) would say or do.

So,  i should say, "I am ashamed of our system and society for following a 'game' where it's okay to lie cheat or steal (just the fact that it happens at all is a show of 'lower-selfness' as compared to showing your 'higher self'... dig?).  But i'm not here to complain or point fingers... i have answers.  I have a valuable valid view upon 'the game' we daily die for, and i understand how to kill 'the game'... not 'the game' killing any more of us.

I wrote a book about it, and i'm deeply involved in writing the second.  Even if you totally see my point in my book as you are reading, and you agree totally... you're still sure to enjoy my life's story and how i came about a totally different cohesive understanding socially.  The White Light was only the beginning.

Problem is, i point fingers.  I name names.  I pull NO punches and take the blame when it is due.  But society made me write 'one-of-us' because of this greed monster killing anything that gets in it's path.

I may be next, or maybe not... but i implore you to examine the meaning behind crime of any sort and i'm sure 'greed' will always be at the root.

It grows everywhere and i explain (in the book) that many others are hollow pots full of fertilizer, so anyone could be next.

It should have been noted that Mario Scaramella,one of the last person to see Litvinenko alive was also looking at possible ties of the present Premier of Italy Romano Prodi with the KGB, and that he is (Scaramella) presently in prison in Rome in solitary confinment charged of slandering a russian secret service agent...the story behind the story someone would say.

Interesting story. Ms Curry does a great job. After watching the show, I concluded the Russian expats were acting exactly as drug traffickers. It seems to me smugglers and traffickers were carrying "the goods" around to prospective customers and end users. Think, why would an assassin sent to poison a specific someone spread the poison around and all over everything? No! A professional killer would do the deed cleanly as possible and get away ASAP. Further, the poison would be kept in its sealed container until ready for use. The fact that traces show up all over indicates the container(s) was opened at various locations. Moreover, Polonium-210 is a heavy substance and would not leak out into the air from a sealed container by itself. This guy accidently poisoned himself. His tales are an effort to deflect suspicion from himself and his cohorts. Elementary, Dr. Curry! Eliminate the politics from the equation and you see a plain criminal case. O! Politics, your poison is everywhere!

Mr. L did in fact have sensitive info. and for all the readers that don't know - more than 250 journalist in Russia have been murdered since 1992 - all of them were critics of the government. Russia is in crisis. There is no rule of law, no freedom of speech... Putin and his henchmen run the country and the FSB carried out orders from the top make no mistake about it. Not only is Russia one of the few places on earth that stocks polonium but it was traced on the very planes the 2 FSB agents took from Moscow to London and the very places they visited in London. To whom shall they take their inquiry. I visited Russia numerous times in 2005. My friend is a well known journalist there and stated there is a code of silence. No journalist is willing to speak out on government abuses, bribery... for fear of the lethal repercussion. Mr. L's murder was inevitable and he himself knew it. That is the price that is paid when a Russian journalist, former agent... dares to speak the truth on the state of Russia today. It's sad the way Litvinenko died. I thought the journalism in the story was lame and all about ratings. You try to make a saint out of a low-level spy with a big axe to grind against Russian Govt. after he gets fired for corruption and using excessive force. I read he was trying to blackmail Russian oligarchs.
Putin has his hands full trying to prevent the oligarchs, Islam and Russian mafia from trying to take over the Russian Govt. All we ever hear about is how Putin is undermining Democracy.

Earlier they said he was poisoned by thallium. That means they don’t know what they are talking about.

I definately think the Russian Govt. had a hand in Litvinenko's death. Why should murder be an answer to everything? Yes, Litvinenko betrayed some very important people, but anyone who knows how the Ruskis operate..knows that they've been killing "truth tellers" for a long, long time.

I'm glad you include Artyom Borovik, if only parenthetically.  How about the deaths of Raisa Gorbachev (leukemia, often caused by radiation) and Alexander Lebed, and the inclusion of more Italians (such as Romano Prodi)?

If Putin wasn't the one who ordered his death, then why is it so difficult to get the book:  "Blowing up Russia : Terror from Within," written by Sasha Litvinenko?  I understand his book reveals a great deal about the KGB and Putin's operative behavior with the KGB.

I agree, that Litvinenko's deathbed speech does sound strange, from Russian guy's mouth (my first language is Russian) Thus, it could be containing a code. Remember, in "Da Vinchi Code", phrases that sound odd are coded messages, that's all. Plus, Litvinenko in bed looked so much like an "angel" guy from the same movie. I am inclined to believe the Italian involvment, probably in smuggling pollonium, or bying. Secret organisation?

I thought this was a great story.  I have been following this story since it happened and have been fascinated by it.  The coverage was great.  I hope that justice is found and his family can rest easier.  I do agree with the statements about denying until it's forgotten.  Typical government.

I can't believe some of the theories. I was skeptical at first when I heard the topic of your presentation. But, You did an excellent job reporting it. I am especially impressed with the British police in their investigation. I think it is very obvious that the Russian businessmen carried out the assination. But, Putin (if nothing else) aware of the hit. Personally I feel he masterminded it. I agree the Cold War isn't over for the leadership in the Kremlin. Putin in my mind might be the most ruthless, dangerous, evil person on earth. I'm convinced he is fueling the unrest in the world, and supplying Automic power to rogue nations.

Being Ukrainian myself and my knowledge on the Russia of yesteryear I can assure you that Putin and the Russian Mob work hand in hand.Every agency under so called Gov control is staffed and chaired by a mob boss and co-chaired by another so called appointee.The Russian Mafia issues and carries out all assasinations in house and out of state. Good program last night.  Curry is just great.  What was omitted, I believe, was discussion of the threat to innocent British civilians.  If Putin was responsible for this, and the evidence seems to point at him, it was an act of war by Russia to let this stuff loose among the civilian population.  The British government appears to be willing to allow this aspect of the case to go out with a whimper.

Russia is the only recognized producer of polonium-210; the USA is the principle, if not sole, buyer of Russian polonium.

It makes no sense that only one of several potential suspects was pointed at. And the fact that polonium was used strongly suggests a conspiracy to implicate Russia, especially with all the anti-Russian rhetoric that's been going on.

The hard facts, the painful truth, are the reason why the media are being prejudicial. But I have no doubt the killers will be brought to bear for their actions.

Why do you keep lying about Aleksander Litvinienko? First of all, Litvinienko was never a KGB agent. Secondly, he was not a FSB's counterterrorism agent either, but a FSB prison guard in Chechnya, who was fired for being abusive to imprisoned Chechen rebels. Next, Litvinienko fell under the (money) spell of billionaire and top "Oligarch" Boris Berezovsky, who had meanwhile turned from Prime Minister Putin's guardian angel into President Putin's nemesis. The rest is, as they say, history....

Italian involvement... however, one Italian is different from another. Smells like Jewish involvement, Israel and USA, back to Bush.  It's all about greed for Iraq, Iran, Israeli power in a middle East, Asia, farther Russia. They use USA as a big scary dog to build their path to power in a world. Come time, they will order the dog into his dog house.

What is interesting is the radiation found at so many locations, from London to Heathrow to Russia and in between.  I was convinced at first that it was a KGB plot, but....I have to wonder at the radiation being found at Boris Beresovsky's office.  The radiation found at the airport and abroad can be attributed to Lugovoi and Kovton and it is improbable that KGB agents would be the source for the radiation in Beresovsky's office. Could it be simply about money?  Beresovsky no longer wants to fund his friend's writing - have Litvenko's politics changed at all?  Or is it a money-saving move, to save some funds for a future expensive purchase?  
My Theory:  Why not get rid of Litvenko once and for all, and point the finger at an easy target like Putin, who'd ordered Litvenko to kill Beresovsky and who was in the news already in connection with the slain journalist Politkovskaya?  Beresovsky gets his revenge on an old enemy!  
Beresovsky convinces Lugovoi and Kovton that killing Litvenko can be more profitable than using him as a security business advisor.  Beresovsky has the available funds for bribery and the cost of the polonium.  He could have enlisted Lugovoi and Kovton to bring over the polonium, and it would have been fairly easy to tamper with the tea at the hotel.  Because they were exposed to the radioactive material as well, Lugovoi and Kovton would show symptoms, but they probably took precautions to ensure they wouldn't die from the exposure.  
If this isn't a government murder plot straight out of a James Bond movie then it's probably about money and power.

As a Russian, I assure you that there is the word Angel of Death in Russian, angel smerti. After all, Russia was a Christian country. The word was used by Russian national poet Pushkin. As for the letter, Litvinenko simply dictated it. And he was a writer and journalist. So his Russian was perfect and cultivated. His Russian original was translated by Goldfarb into English, read to the dying Litvinenko in English and he signed the copy in English.

Traces of Pollonium go from Moscow to London? They do not produce pollonium in Moscow! Traces were planted sloppily in a big hurry, the deliverer did not go farther than Moscow, to Siberia for the lack of time and lack of entry to the pollonium plant, someone from the West.
Russian poet Lermontov also wrote poem Angel of Death, where the main hero goes to war for the riches to provide for his beloved.

I think, careful and professional transportation of a dust particle of pollonium does not live detectable traces. Traces were planted in a manner that they are detecrtable.

The killing was not professional enough to be KGB. Something like this is done by those wanting to make a point, and clumsily. Ergo, they must not be professional. I can tell you the Secret Service has not slipped that far. And if the KGB would have killed him to make a point, the word would have gotten around to those it needed to, but not global media.

I think Anna Nicole Smith poisoned Litvinenko, and that she was killed to conceal the plot.

More than likely the polonium came through Bulgarian hands via a post associate of the victim.  

I am sure of one thing. After listening to the interactive guide through Alexander's life and death, he either ingested the lethal dose of Polonium by the water that he drank at the sushi bar or the drinks that he had with Andrie and Dmitry. It clearly states that a dose of Polonium the size of a grain of salt would prove lethal to humans. It is so obvious.

This is also a clear example of how the actual terrorists are making plot to accuse Muslims. In September, 1999 Russia bombarded several hundred schools in Chechnya and killed thousands of school kids but nobody ever accuse them as a terrorists. How many times FOX reported those news?
