A seemingly-fake reality TV show

Chris Hansen, Dateline correspondent

Every once in a while a story finds you. Such is the case with the hour-long investigation we'll bring you on Friday night, May 2.

I think it's one of the most unique and interesting stories we've done this year and it came to us in an equally unique and interesting way. It was a tip from a Texas-based cameraman that got the ball rolling. In the past, Izzy Cardoza had done some work for NBC News and so he felt comfortable calling NBC after he says a so-called producer/reality show host didn't pay him for a project Izzy and his crew shot.

Izzy, as it turned out had kept all the tapes as collateral and when the producer/host never came up with a promised certified check, Izzy and his crew walked off the job with the tapes.

Guess who has the tapes now?

That's right, Dateline. And they not only make for compelling television, they allowed us to track down a group of contestants who say they were duped into believing they were going to appear worldwide on a reality show. The group was told that the winner would get $50,000 and the possibility of a big time modeling contract.

The host/producer was a fellow named Gemase Simmons.  He claimed to be a former supermodel, but as our investigation would reveal, that and so many other things he claimed couldn't be confirmed or just weren't true.

As you'll see, Simmons puts the contestants through the kind of grueling physical contests that have become reality show fare, but it's what was going on off-camera that was really bizarre.

We'll show you that, and also what happens when we go looking for Gemase Simmons to ask him what he was really up to.

'Reality Bites' aired on Friday, May 2. Click here to read Gemase Simmons' response after the broadcast.

Well, this story catches my attention because I was a victim too...but I got suspicious when we would have meetings at HEB conference rooms.  I realized that he was not what he made himself out to be.
I think Chris has done an outstanding job and was very instrumental in putting some sick people in jail. When I was a kid, we could go play outside all day long and our parents would not have to worry about where we were and what we were doing. It's sad that today we really can't let our children have the freedom we did as kids. It's difficult to explain to my eight year old nephew why he can't ride his bicycle around the block alone.  I thank you Chris, for sticking up for kids everywhere against sexual predators. People need to be educated more about this.  Please continue the great work you are doing.

MEMORANDUM OPINION

No. 04-03-00585-CR

Gemase SIMMONS,

Appellant

v.

The STATE of Texas,

Appellee

From the County Court at Law No. 8, Bexar County, Texas

Trial Court No. 848327

Honorable Karen Crouch, Judge Presiding

Opinion by:    Phylis J. Speedlin, Justice

Sitting:            Karen Angelini, Justice

Sandee Bryan Marion, Justice

Phylis J. Speedlin, Justice

Delivered and Filed:   February 23, 2005

AFFIRMED

Gemase Simmons was convicted of public lewdness and sentenced to one hundred days confinement in the Bexar County Adult Detention Center with assessment of a $1,000 fine. Simmons raises two issues on appeal, asserting that his warrantless search and arrest were not supported by probable cause, and that his trial counsel rendered ineffective assistance by failing to file a pre-trial motion to suppress. Because we find Simmons failed to preserve any error with respect to the legality of the search and arrest, and failed to establish his ineffective assistance claim, we affirm the judgment of the trial court.

Background

On April 14, 2003, Officer Ruben Huerta of the San Antonio Park Police Department was patrolling the grounds of Hemisfair Park. At approximately 9:56 p.m., Huerta entered a public restroom near the Tower of the Americas. He heard a moaning sound coming from one of the restroom stalls and saw “two sets of feet” in the last stall with the door closed. Huerta also heard an obscene remark describing a sexual act made by someone in the last stall. Based on his observations and his professional knowledge of prior acts of public lewdness in the Hemisfair Park restrooms, Huerta entered the adjoining stall. He stepped up on the commode, and looked over into the last stall. Huerta saw Simmons sitting on the commode and performing oral sex on another male who was standing. Huerta ordered the men to exit the stall. Simmons was detained and arrested, but the other man fled the scene. Simmons was charged with and convicted of public lewdness by deviate sexual intercourse.

Analysis

In his first issue, Simmons asserts that he had a reasonable expectation of privacy behind the closed door in the public restroom, and thus he was entitled to the protections of the Fourth Amendment against unreasonable search and seizure. See U.S. Const. amend. IV. Simmons contends that Officer Huerta’s actions constituted an illegal search of the restroom stall, and that his subsequent arrest was not supported by probable cause. Simmons’ counsel did not file a pre-trial motion to suppress challenging the legality of the arrest or admissibility of the evidence.

While represented by counsel, Simmons filed a pro se “Motion to Dismiss-Insufficient Evidence” arguing that he was arrested without probable cause and that any evidence flowing from the illegal arrest should be suppressed;the motion was not ruled on by the trial court. A defendant is not entitled to hybrid representation, i.e., to proceed prose and be represented by an attorney at the same time. Landers v. State, 550 S.W.2d 272, 280 (Tex. Crim. App. 1977)(opinion on reh’g). The trial court is not required to consider pro se motions filed while a defendant is represented bycounsel. Meyer v. State, 27 S.W.3d 644, 648 (Tex. App.–Waco 2000, pet. ref’d). Accordingly, Simmons’ pro se motion did not operate to preserve error. Tex. R. App. P. 33.1(a).

Close Further, Simmons did not object at the time Officer Huerta testified about his observations and actions, his witnessing the commission of the offense, and Simmons’ subsequent arrest; therefore, Simmons has failed to preserve any error with respect to the legality of the search and arrest. Tex. R. App. P. 33.1(a). Error, if any, in the admission of evidence allegedly obtained as a result of an illegal search and seizure is waived if a proper objection is not made at the time the evidence is introduced. Dinkins v. State, 894 S.W.2d 330, 355 (Tex. Crim. App. 1995); see also Stults v. State, 23 S.W.3d 198, 205 (Tex. App.—Houston [14th Dist.] 2000, pet. ref’d) (to preserve error on claim of illegal seizure, defendant must either file a motion to suppress or object when the evidence is offered). After Officer Huerta was excused from the witness stand, Simmons made an untimely motion to strike Huerta’s testimony that he personally witnessed Simmons performing the sexual act, arguing that the officer’s action in looking into the stall invaded Simmons’ right to privacy. Simmons never argued in the trial court that the officer lacked probable cause for the warrantless search or arrest; therefore, even if timely, his trial complaint does not correspond to his complaint on appeal and thus preserved nothing for review. Tex. R. App. P. 33.1(a)(1)(A); see Heidelberg v. State, 144 S.W.3d 535, 537 (Tex. Crim. App. 2004); Hall v. State, 124 S.W.3d 246, 248 (Tex. App.—San Antonio 2003, pet. ref’d).

In his second issue, Simmons asserts he was denied effective assistance of counsel in violation of his rights under the Sixth Amendment to the United States Constitution and Art. I, § 10 of the Texas Constitution. U.S. Const. amend. VI; Tex. Const. art. I, § 10. Because we find that Simmons has failed to establish ineffective assistance of counsel as required by Strickland v. Washington, we overrule his second issue. See Strickland v. Washington, 466 U.S. 668, 687 (1984).

To establish ineffective assistance of counsel in a non-capital criminal trial, a defendant must show by a preponderance of the evidence that (1) his trial counsel’s performance was deficient, and (2) the deficient performance prejudiced him to such a degree as to deprive him of a fair trial. Id.; see Hernandez v. State, 988 S.W.2d 770, 770 n.3 (Tex. Crim. App. 1999); see also Harling v. State, 899 S.W.2d 9, 12 (Tex. App.—San Antonio 1995, pet. ref’d). To establish deficient performance, the first prong of the Strickland standard, the defendant must show that counsel’s performance fell below an objective standard of reasonableness and must rebut the presumption that counsel’s trial decisions were based on sound trial strategy. Thompson v. State, 9 S.W.3d 808, 812-14 (Tex. Crim. App. 1999). To satisfy this prong, any allegations of ineffectiveness must be firmly founded in the record. Id. at 813. The appellate court does not look at isolated acts or omissions to determine effectiveness, but reviews the totality of the representation. Id.; Harling, 899 S.W.2d at 12.

The sole basis of Simmons’ claim of ineffective assistance is his attorney’s failure to file a pre-trial motion to suppress the evidence obtained as a result of the purportedly illegal search and seizure.

Simmons does not raise his counsel’s failure to object to the admission of Officer Huerta’s testimony during trial as ineffective assistance, only his failure to file a pre-trial motion to suppress.

Close Simmons filed a motion for new trial, but did not allege ineffective assistance of counsel. Therefore, no record was developed as to trial counsel’s reasons for not filing a pre-trial motion to suppress. Because the record is silent as to trial counsel’s reasons for any acts or omissions in his representation of Simmons at trial, we are unable to conclude that counsel rendered deficient performance. Bone v. State, 77 S.W.3d 828, 835 (Tex. Crim. App. 2002) (appellate record must affirmatively demonstrate the alleged ineffectiveness). “Under normal circumstances, the record on direct appeal will not be sufficient to show that counsel’s representation was so deficient and so lacking in tactical or strategic decision-making as to overcome the presumption that counsel’s conduct was reasonable and professional.” Id. at 833; see also Rylander v. State, 101 S.W.3d 107, 110-11 (Tex. Crim. App. 2003). Counsel’s conduct must be presumed to fall within the wide range of reasonable professional assistance. Thompson, 9 S.W.3d at 813. To find defendant’s trial counsel ineffective without a proper record exploring counsel’s trial strategy would require this court to speculate as to counsel’s motivation and reasoning, which we may not do. Without evidence in the record to affirmatively establish deficiency and rebut the prevailing presumption of reasonable assistance, Simmons is unable to satisfy the first prong of Strickland. See Thompson, 9 S.W.3d at 814; Jackson v. State, 973 S.W.2d 954, 957 (Tex. Crim. App. 1998) (trial record is often particularly inadequate to reflect the failings of trial counsel when the errors complained of are errors of omission).

Even if there was deficient performance on the part of his trial counsel, Simmons has also failed to establish prejudice – the second prong of Strickland. “Prejudice, in this context, is demonstrated when the defendant shows a reasonable probability that, but for counsel’s unprofessional errors, the result of the proceeding would have been different.” Harling, 899 S.W.2d at 12 (citing Holland v. State, 761 S.W.2d 307, 314 (Tex. Crim. App. 1988)). A “reasonable probability” is one sufficient to undermine confidence in the outcome. Bone, 77 S.W.3d at 833. There is nothing in the record to suggest that a motion to suppress would have been meritorious. See Jackson, 973 S.W.2d at 957 (defendant claiming ineffective assistance based on counsel’s failure to file a motion to suppress is required to prove that the motion would have been granted). Officer Huerta’s testimony shows that he had a reasonable suspicion of criminal activity to warrant an investigation and detention, and his own personal observations of Simmons’ actions provided probable cause for the warrantless arrest. Given the evidence presented by the State, Simmons has failed to demonstrate that the filing of a motion to suppress would have raised a reasonable probability of a different outcome.

Failure to make the required showing of either deficient performance or sufficient prejudice will defeat a claim for ineffective assistance of counsel. Thompson, 9 S.W.3d at 813. Simmons has failed on both accounts. For the reasons discussed above, we overrule Simmons’ second issue.

Based on the foregoing reasons, we affirm the judgment of the trial court.

I'm watching this episode right now in NYC.  Thank you for airing specials like this.  It is so important for young people to learn to be careful with "auditions" and "castings" in this day and age of a wildly growing entertainment industry scammers.  People of all ages need to understand that scams like this one do exist and that weirdos like Gemase use the internet to trap naive wannabe stars.  Be smart and always work with professionals that check out with the BBB, Better Business Bureau!

That guy should be lock up. I those are not the first kids he victimaze.
Great story and it is disgusting to learn of another scam.
One correction to your story reported was that this guy advertised on web sites such as MySapce and as you stated "Professional Models web sites like Model Mayhem"
Knowing of  Model Mayhem and from personal experience you can clearly see that they are not professional.Thank You for exposing this guy.
Where did this guy, Gemase Simmons, get all the money to put these contestants through all the stuff, such as the body waxing, etc.??? Was this goofball independently wealth?
Gamase is a player - big time.  I applaude those who came forward to help expose him.  I can see where they were coming from, their hopes and dreams, only to have one person destroy those dreams.  The last female interviewed made me laugh but I could feel her pain at the same time.  Gamase's self esteem has to be really, really, low.  Keep up the GREAT expose work.
What a peice of work, I hope this guy gets what he deserves
Apparently about three years ago, Gemase Simmons was convicted of public lewdness down in Texas.

After seeing this Dateline I can't help but NOT to feel sorry for these dumb $%$ youngins who wanted quick fast money for some modeling. Versus going thru the real deal grind of modeling by going to different agencies and perhaps doing some modeling on a local level.  Hell haven't any of these young people watched a season, an episode or a part of a segment of "America's Next Top Model"?? If so didn't they think it really odd and strange to be involved in tasks & challenges more on the lines of being on "Survivor" then anything to do with modeling???  Furthermore wouldn't it seem odd for the young people (if they regularly watch at least a few reality shows) to not really question or be suspect of no legit production deal with some network of sorts on the show??  The young lady who is studying medicine I wouldn't ever want her to be my doctor AT ALL if she's that dumb as hell to be that pressed for money to put herself in a situation to be sexually assaulted or raped all for the sake of posing for some clothing line???  I wish more young folks pressed to be on reality shows would have watched this segment to really understand what they are signing themselves up for when they want to soo freely appear on these shows!!!
I was flipping through stations and stopped on the show.  I actually know that guy!  I met him back in 1999 in San Antonio.  He claimed to be starting a magazine and needed models.  I can't believe he's still at it all these years!
While watching your show, I was shocked at the audacity of this guy. I googled him and it looks like he isn't going to stop until he completly rips someone off. Here is the website: http://www.jabezprod.com/webfolio/gemase/pages/gemase.htm

I also saw where a "Gemase Simmons" is wanted in Texas for 6 arrest warrants;maybe it's him. Please find a way to catch this guy and air it for all of his victims to see. Thanks for another great show!
i just saw the story!  so wack!   & to see all his myspace pages are still up AND have friends= ewww.

some of the people are on my daughter's memorial page.  i will be warning them.

This man is a sociopath and if he isn't dealt with by the police, he's going to do riskier and riskier things until he really hurts someone.

He's so far deep into his lies he doesn't know the truth anymore. It's so scary.

Hansen's remark about being that woman's dad and being angry at her b/c she fell for Gemase's CON (ie his purposeful misleading her) was completely inappropriate!

If anything, her dad would/should be made at the perpetrator who took advantage of his daughter.

The comment smacked of blaming the victim and admonishing her as he did was an ignorant thing to do.
Hello,

I watched the show tonight on the fake reality show, and before seeing it, I thought that I along with several others were the only victims of a very similar scam.  I am a retired police officer who worked with another officer and several bounty hunters, who were promised a reality show by a woman who is wanted in the state of Ca.   She too has done the same as the other guy, taking gifts in exchange for publicity.  This story is really spooky.  Feel free to contact me, I would also like to have her exposed.
This guy is a complete sociopath.  His website at Gemase.net says that GEMASE Inc is a corp with varying businesses from publishing, entertainment & media, non-profit humanitarianism, fashion & style, finance and banking and so much more.  Humanitarianism?  Hahahaha!!

According to Gemase, his company now employs 100 VOLUNTEERS.  Ha.  I guess they are volunteers since he ain't paying!!  Oh, by the way, he had some sort of internet radio station, wrote books (one about a con man, no less), and wraps it all up in a tidy bow by letting us know that he's a singer too, and his new album is coming out.  How he recorded an album while busy doing humanitarian work AND doing several high profile commercial shoots (seen him anyone?) we'll never know.  Oh wait...he's also a motivational speaker, reality show producer, and a political consultant.  How far are YOUR delusions of grandeur willing to take you?

It gets better.  According to abundantlifecathedral.us (which is designed the same as the other sites) Gemase is also a pastor of a church.  (He'd have to be almost a deity to accomplish all those things at the same time!)

Good job, Hansen.  By the way, you wouldn't be the first to catch this guy.  He got sentenced to 100 days and a thousand bucks back in '05 for public lewdness.  (He lost on appeal.)
I was flipping through stations and stopped on the show.  I actually know that guy!  I met him back in 1999 in San Antonio.  He claimed to be starting a magazine and needed models.  I can't believe he's still at it all these years!
Chris Hansen and Dateline, thank your for airing this segment in regard to Gemase Simmons.  Your program always provides an excellent service.  I hope young individuals that aspire to go into modeling watch your program and be aware of fraudulent individuals.
I started watching the program this evening and was just floored.  I knew Gemase Simmons years ago when both of us worked for a local newspaper on it's teenage section.   Seemed like a nice guy back then, lol.  Then again, I'm not the same guy a decade and a half later either, lol.
I am a student at UTSA. Gemase was at the downtown campus of UTSA sometime in May of 2007. I am biracial and have long, curly hair. He saw me studying in a lounge area and sat near me. I was waiting on my boyfriend. My boyfriend finally came as we started to walk away he stopped me and started talking about how pretty my hair is and how he had someone asking him about casting for a Pantene commercial. He gave me his card and told me to email him. A few emails later he asked me to meet him at his office. My boyfriend was against if from the start but agreed only if he could come too. We arrived at an nice office building on San Pedro. Well it appeared nice on the outside. When we entered the lobby the office building was undergoing renovations. We found Gemase's model company name, Stone Models, and the floor. We go up and it's a small(extremely small) office with pictures of him everywhere and my boyfriend was already getting bad vibes. Then Gemase has us sit down and he begins talking about this "reality tv show" and how the boot camp would begin in May 2007. There would be a cost to participate in the boot camp and the best performers from the boot camp would be asked to be on his show. My boyfriend and I are hitting each other on the leg. Almost at the same time we ask, so what about Pantene? As soon as we begin seeming doubtful he asks us if we would like to see his new office that it in the process of being constructed upstairs. Supposedly the "small office" was temporary. He took us upstairs to a very big office that was being constructed and began to walk through each room and explain what he was planning. He was saying some very extreme things. My boyfriend and I were ready to go; I just didn't want to be rude. After about 30 minutes of him giving us this tour and him bragging about he had just came from Fashion Week and some shoot in Paris, we walk down to the smaller office and then leave. Tonight my boyfriend screamed my name because he saw your show. I can't believe that I even was dumb enough to go to his office. Yet as soon as my boyfriend and I left his "office" we knew he was fraud. I can't even imagine putting myself in a situation with this guy where I would be alone in his apartment. I hope something can be done about this whole situation. Your show opened your eyes and confirmed what my boyfriend always tell me that you can never trust anyone just because they seem nice. Thank you.
This guy is transparent; craves the spotlight, but doesn't have the skills to get it.  Another con man exposed.  I really enjoy Chris Hansen's work.
the man you featured on the show that was tricking women could this be the same guy check out this video

As PT Barnum said, "There's a sucker born every minute".  These "aspiring models" are some of the biggest suckers I have ever seen in my life.  I could spend 20 seconds with this guy and know that not only was he not a former "supermodel" but had no means to make me one.

Wow....I thought I'd never be lost for words about anything, but this is it. This big time loser sure did pull the wool over these poor young peoples eyes. And did it without any feelings or regret to the victims. Wow I feel embarrased for the people involved, for what this loser did to the unsuspecting people. Sorry I'm dumbfounded.

That guy Gernase is a creep! Chris hanson is a stud and all his work is awsome!!!! I wish he would have busted Gernase... but how could all those 'models' fall for such a pathetic guy?

Man, this guy has got to be stopped. With all of his debt, I doubt that he has paid his taxes. At this point, can't the police lock him up for fraud or something? He is a serious menace to society and a sexual predator. He is also ugly (a little jab just in case he reads this). There is no way that he could ever have been a model. He has a personality disorder. Be careful ladies (and men)!
Ugo Mozie is actually one of my close friends and I know how much this actually impacted him. I wanted to say to Aljorie, Glen Burnie, MD that you can't be more wrong in what you have said. I know for a fact that Ugo has worked his ass off to get into modeling, you have no right to say anything like that. You would have fallen for that Gemase did to them, and you can't say that you wouldn't have. Anyone would have.
OK Dateline/Chris let's have the update to this story with actual footage of catching Gamese.  If you found him once, you will find him again preying on more innocent people.  Basically, I've learned over the years that if it's too good to be true, it probably isn't.  Do your homework and question everything...trust your instincts that tell you something isn't quite right. There are so many scammers today that unfortunately you have to be wary of someone's ulterior motives.  It would add more drama to have Izzy be the cameraman that actually videotapes his capture - nothing like karma!
Well i was involved with this scam artist here in san antonio form may 2007- uly 2007...i heard the girl who spole on the show and feel so sorry for her because i went through the same things and much more it was the worst experience of my life and i really hope they find him and hope he goes to prison for the rest of his life on account of ALL the things he did to me, my friends and everyone else.!!
this is so crazy to me. i knew gemase simmons from church! his sister was such a good person! i can't began to express how shocked i am. i hope they catch him and get him some help b/c he has some mental problems
We were certainly glad this made the national circuit.  We were almost victims of this guy several years ago, but immediately saw trouble, when he told us we could hire him as a campaign manager, for a local school district election,at the nominal fee of #3000.00  We knew we could do whatever he was going to do ourselves.  What a guy!  Go get him, Chris!
I don't think Chris's comments to the young lady who is studying to be a doctor was inappropriate AT ALL.  I think she was very stupid to stick around even after he gave her the cosmetic examination(grope-grope)

Clearly you can see I know this guy. It is a sin and shame but true.

I was also a victim of this madness and I tried to warn models involved in the so called preliminary screening here in San Antonio after a so called photo shoot at the Zen Bar downtown SA, but they did not believe me. All I asked them to do was just do their research.

At one time I provided service as a makeup artist and stylist for Gemase before knowing that he was a con artist. The funny thing is that my husband had a run in with him years prior when he tried to pose himself off as a minister. (YEAH RIGHT) Which now makes sense as to why he never wanted to physically meet my husband.

Anyways, he talked a good game and made everything so entirely believable and it is so sad because the girls and guys involved really wanted what he said he could give.

I let him drive my car, drove models around, to him to dinner and paid for it picked him up for meetings and if anything I feel really stupid.

I knew he would get caught eventually, cause you always reap what you sow.

These are some emails I kept for a day such as this.

Laura:

I have received and responded to your inquiry that you sent as a post comment on both my personal and business myspace pages.  I must admit that I was at a lost as to why it appeared that you were convinced that my business intentions were less than professional or ethical.

Certainly, I have not taken anything from you, or anyone else that would warrant such a harsh review.  All of my efforts to open this new venture has been routed in helping people that are usually over-looked to participate in an industry that is fun, exciting and rewarding.

The Bible says "If you find your brother in a fault, leave your gift at the altar and go to your brother"...I guess I'm still waiting for you to do this.  You have my personal cell phone number and I usually answer when you call or return your call shortly thereafter.  I would have loved an opportunity to answer your questions, but instead, you came to a conclusion, without my response and began a slander campaign against me and STONE Models.

As for the "warning" emails that you sent those that are working with me, of course they called, forwarded the information or somehow informed me.  My legal team is looking into the matter, they have been notified and I am confident that they will make the matter better.  Those models starred in two high-end fashion photo shoots yesterday.  There was no way that many of them could have afforded it!  But we made it happen for them and they all had a blast!  You should have asked them.  They would have told you.

Although, I don’t owe an explanation, allow me to offer:  The STONE Models apartment is leased to STONE MODELS, NOT GEMASE.  The phone number in the apartment, the lights that run in the apartment and all of the contents thereof belong to STONE Models.  I don’t live there, I don’t have to live there, so it doesn’t matter if there is any furniture in there or not.  It serves the purpose that I created for it and that is all that matters.  If you felt that furniture was needed you were free to donate some or offer to sale us some.

My car was stolen.  It was a blue grey 2006 FORD MUSTANG.  I haven’t bought another car because I would love for the insurance company to pay for it.  It’s as simple as that.  As for my recent modeling credit, check out HOUSTON Magazine (a modern luxury publication) in February of 2007 (just a few short days) I am in that magazine.... full page ad.... no one can doubt that that is me!

My models are building their portfolio for less than $100.00, they are not overcharged they are actually undercharged!  I teach for free, the information is valid and useful and I would have loved for you to stick around long enough to see these things for yourself.

I don’t remember your husband or his partner and I don’t mean to be disrespectful when I say that.  After my sister died in 2004, a lot of things are just really tough.  I can say that when I wrote a book: WORTH FIGHTING FOR (you can get it at Barnes & Noble or ebay or bn.com) many people only knew me as a political activist or a writer, that did not mean that I wasn’t a model when I wrote the book.  I was a model when I wrote the book, I was a model when I became a preacher (in the COGIC) I am a model today and I will be a model tomorrow.  It is not the biggest part of my life; it is simply one thing that I can do.  I'm versatile and diverse and I love it.  So, although I may not have mentioned that I was a model to your husband, it does not mean that I was not!

I wish you all the success in the world.  With your family, your new CD, your business and all the other wonderful ventures that you are a part of.  I still believe that you are a warm and kind person; unfortunately, you just did not see me for who I am.  That’s cool.

Please do not continue to damage my name, or my ventures.  I have a lot of good people connected to me that are working their hardest for communal success and it is not fair to them or to me.

-Gemase

I know all that I need to know about you.

Horace Brown gave explicit detail about you. You do know them both.

It's not about you cheating them for money or anything but what it is is that you need to be who you say you are. If you are a Model for FORD, Why do they not have record of you. All of the pictures on your site are recent. Super models have plenty of pics especially from doing it for 16 years!

With your car, do you have a police report? You gotta do better than that.

You were completely unprofessional night and I would not go around calling that shoot high end. You then left me to deal with the people at the ZEN Bar with no consideration and your models told me what happened and they were not happy with how it all went down either.

As far as slander, I simply told them to get the facts.

Let's face it, If you did not live at the Stone Models apartment then where do really live. Yeah, I won't go there.

If you are who you say you are, give your models who have doubted you all along, proof of your so called portfolio prior to this past month, your degree, and paperwork of your license for the agency.

I called Stone Models in Cleavland Ohio and They were for certain that you are not affiliated and that they have received may calls from people asking for you and collectors who wanted to get paid for rent delinquency.

Look, bottom line is, I was warned about you since the first time We were supposed to meet. I didn't listen. You are a nice guy but I will not and can not give my time, attention or talent away to you when you tell me you want me to do makeup for a shoot, SHOW up late and then want me to rush, yelling "Next model", tell the models that Patrice will do the makeup so that they did not have to pay $20. You disrespected me and It only takes one time with me.

As far as your business practices, no modeling agency would allow you to have 13 and 16 year old girls at your HOME and be ok with it. Also the way you have these girls posing for pictures and all I saw the real you last night and that cannot be fixed.

All of the other hog wash is irrelevant. If you are who you say you are then there should be something to validate that. Dude, talk is cheap and what you say is just what you say, regardless.

By all means have your legal department call me if they have anything they would like to discuss.

I pray that you be blessed Gemase, I just don't have time for games.

You are STONE MODELS, do ya thang pa. But do not tell people you are a preacher because your fruit says otherwise.

I wanted to meet your husband.  You know that.  I even waited to go to church with you the Sunday that you forgot me because you were late to the service and had to rush right there.

Opening a business is tough, takes a lot of time.  I once again offer my apology.  I wasn’t trying anything with his wife.  I was just focused on STONE Models.  I guess I should have insisted that I met him or he me.  I haven’t met many people’s spouses that I work with or have worked with.  I'm not running a church; I'm trying to open an agency.  I was certain that I would have met him at one of the upcoming public functions that we had.

Now you have took several shots at Olivia being at the STONE Models apartment.  You always fail to mention that her 19 years old sister was also there, 26 years old (ARMY SGT.) Glass was there, as well as a host of other people, including Ashley, Ilan, and Jerry and that HER MOTHER gave her permission to be there.

Finally you don’t know if there is any kinship between her family and mine.  You didn’t ask.  You just implied.  That is a huge implication and certainly, I believed, that you of all people would not toss such horrible implications around so casually.  Where is the fruit in that?

But no need to worry.  Everything is ok.  And since you were concerned about my transportation.  Thought you should know, transportation issue: resolved.  Nothing like a little inspiration to make things happen.

-Gemase

Negative inspiration. Congratulations on that. That's wonderful.

I am sorry that you still cannot see why this all started and you still cannot tell me or prove that you have been a model with Ford models for 16 years. That is my whole point but I think you just don't see how that is wrong to lie about. I am done this is pathetic.

Good day sir.

Gemase is a big dreamer. I know him personally and I even own 25 shares of stock in Gemase Inc. The stock certificate is notarized and states that Gemase Inc is incorporated under the laws of the state of Texas. Am I out of my investment since this was a con artist game? He had an attorney present when we received our stock. The sad thing is that if Gemase could have used his talent for good, he could have gone far because he had a way of getting people to trust him (attorneys, MBAs, community leaders, ministers, etc). He was a Youth Minister who had finished the book "Worth Fighting For" that his sister (who died after being hit by a car) had started and the book had the foreword written by his God Mother, Rev. Claudette Copeland and T.D. Jakes. Gemase had projections and subsidiary companies including Gemase Entertainment & Media, Gemase Publishing Division, Finance Division, The Division of Non Profit Humanitarianism, Division of Professional Associations, and Gemase Style Division. He had big dreams of one day being the President of the United States one(his room was decorated in Red, White, and Blue). He lost sight of God's plan for his life and took the con artist way instead. Only God can save him. God bless his soul.
What scares me is that Gemase has been an invited guest in my home several times and I have been to his home as well. I met his family after his sister died. I knew something was not right because he made all kinds of promises that never came true. Big dreams but no action. He has preached at Youth Rallys across the country. Even with T.D. Jakes! I pray that he never molested any of those children...Chris, you may need to take further action with your investigation. Contact New Creation church in San Antonio and find out why he had to step down as their youth pastor....talk to the mother of his child...
Chris,

Why didn't the police arrest him when they knew where he was when one of the girls called? With all of those outstanding warrants why isn't he in jail? You didn't seem to have a hard time finding him?
I have never submitted a blog on the internet before, believe it or not!  But I am compelled to do that today, being an avid viewer of Dateline NBC and seeing a story like this that has been casted for the normative value of society.  Thank you Chris Hansen, as well as the crew members of Dateline for airing shows that help expose con men and twisted individuals who need serious help.  Your work not only puts people like this where they belong (when there's a happy ending, of course), but it also educates people to be cautious about their surroundings and to make informed decisions.  Today, the media has a bad reputation for exploiting people and "selling out" to ideas that can be inappropriate and false - not beng in the best interest for society.  Most of the time, Dateline does a good job for providing reporting that is unbiased and truthful.  However, on the flip side, it is sad to realize that the innocent families of sexual predators must face the public after these embarrassing and damaging encounters are exposed.  And, we must remember that most of these predators come from backgrounds that are prevalent in abuse.  Human behavior can be very faulty, due to the chemical and environmental problems that people face.  Not that I am excusing the actions of any kind of predator or con man, but it's true that many of these people have been born predisposed to bad habits, as well as subjected to abusive situations.  I am glad that we can watch these shows and be forewarned of these types of situations, but also cannot help from feeling guilty sometimes for buying into this idea.  It also upsets me when people treat these shows as entertainment.

But overall, I do believe that the pros outweigh the cons for broadcasting these types of shows to the public.  We should be aware of the fact that with such change in technology and values of these times, we must combat the evil that comes with them.  I am a believer that we can use good to conquer the bad, as long as we are always critically thinking about the issues.  Thanks for reading!
I was actually apart of the last "cycle" of this fake reality tv show.. Gemase is crazy. He surely messed with people's lives to the point people were quitting there jobs and school missing out on scholarships to do the show... He talked a good game for a while, but a young lady started warning us about him and people started catching on to his game.. We always wondered why there was no camera crew, why did he get kicked out of the mosiac and why did the show change from a reality tv show, to a so called tv movie. Made absolutely no since what so ever. He would have us up at 4 and 5 o'clock in the morning. I am glad many of the ladies caught on before we were fully humiliated and after we dropped out we could not find gemase.
RE: Gemase Simmons. I think I have found Gemase Simmons in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I would like to help expose this guy and bring him to justice. My find drives a silver Pontiac with Texas plates and is a dead ringer for Gemase. He showed up here on or about 4-21-08. I can be contacted at 319-241-1710. My name is Harry Smith.
Chris Hansen your star is rising, you´re becoming a worldwide known person. I saw you yesterday with "To Catch a Predator" on Dutch (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Netherlands) television. So congratz
Hi Chris,
