Did Paris really learn her lesson? And why do we care?

This will be Paris Hilton’s eighth night behind bars, probably the most-discussed jail term ever.

Monday on “The View,” Barbara Walters talked about the phone call she received from Hilton, who’s in the medical ward of the L.A. County jail.

Harvey Levin, TMZ.com: She’s doing better.  She’s adjusting to it.  She’s still fragile.  But I think, just psychologically, from what I’m hearing, she’s not this ping pong ball anymore.  She knows she’s going to be at this facility for awhile.

Last week, Harvey Levin’s TMZ.com was reporting Hilton was disintegrating under the pressures of incarceration...saying she’d become sullen, withdrawn...a train wreck....and being visited by her psychiatrist.

That set up last Friday’s tug-of-war between a sheriff who sent her to home detention and a judge who wanted this Hilton back in the crossbar hotel.

What’s also astonishing about this case is not just the attention it has received, but the venom it’s generated. Browse any Internet board—you’ll find a legion of posters wishing Ms. Hilton a long, unpleasant stay in the hands of the law.

It’s not just the blogosphere—one Web site is selling “Paris Go Away” T-shirts.

And while she’s a familiar target in the late-night cross hairs,  the huge audience reaction to any mention of her plight is so enthusiastic, it’s become predictable.

Why do people care so much about her fate? Is it because she’s seen as an emblem for young Hollywood, living fast, loose, and out of control? Or is it simple class warfare, a rage against the rich? Either way, a simple legal two-step, a release from custody into home detention, Became, in the public’s mind, a deal with the devil in a city of angels.

Harvey Levin: It was like throwing stones in, you know, the old Roman town.  Everybody felt part of it.  Yeah, she’s getting it.  I mean, there was a lot of anger toward her because they’ve seen her get away with things.  That’s wrong, but that’s the way a lot of people felt.

Over the weekend, the heiress issued a statement saying she would not appeal her sentence, even after she and her family, and her attorney first protested it as being unfair.

Harvey Levin: This judge was a jerk.  There was absolutely no basis for what he did.  Nobody gets this kind of punishment for what she did.  He punished her for who she is, not what she did.

But keep in mind Hilton’s original sentence of 45 days follows this arrest by the LAPD last September for driving under the influence, for which she received probation, a fine, DUI classes, and lost her right to drive.

Then there were two more police stops, each when she was driving under a suspended license. To top it off, she was late to court.

Attorney Lawrence Taylor, who literally wrote the book on DUI legal-defense work says Hilton’s attitude is what really worked against her.

Lawrence Taylor, lawyer: She came in and instead of being contrite and suggesting that she might be sorry for what she did and that it will never happen again, instead said essentially that it was not her fault and blamed some other people, her handlers, whoever those were.  That’s not the kinda thing you say to a judge after you’ve just violated probation three times.

Hilton has regularly been depicted as being neither especially virginal nor cerebral. Today Barbara Walters quoted her as saying she’s no longer going to play dumb.

That act, if that’s what it was, was on full display two years ago when the LAPD interviewed Hilton as a witness in an unrelated criminal case.

So tonight, Paris Hilton is on a prison diet, and says she’s learning a bitter, important lesson.  She also says she’s shocked that so much public and media attention is being paid to her...instead of to the soldiers serving this country in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It’s probably the first time she’s ever asked for the world’s attention to be focused elsewhere.

since Paris herself has stated that she wants the media to focus on "real news", why not fine any network/magazine/media source $1 million if/when her name is mentioned?   the money could be used to alleviate suffering in Darfur, for instance.   Ms Hilton is newsworthy in her own mind only, and the less attention given her, the better.
They should keep Paris Hilton in jail for 10 years!!!
Paris does need to straighten up, but the pleasure that so many people feel and express for her suffering, is sick.  These people who enjoy seeing her misery are just showing what a bad, unkind heart they have.  I know Paris will learn to be more careful and responsible.  But the ill-willed people that relish on her unfortunate situation will hardly become better.  Paris might make mistakes and be able to correct them.  I believe she is a good-hearted person, with no malice in her heart. But I cannot say the same about her detractors.  Those who have mocked her and despised are only making their evil hearts evident to all.  They degrade themselves, not Paris.
I think Paris is secretly enjoying all of the attention she is getting. If that had been a common person that received a DUI, that person would be in jail for a lot longer than Paris or any of the other bratty stars in Hollywood.  I don't think they should get any different treatment than the common person and they should do hard time as well as keeping her driving privilege on hold for a long time.  She doesn't seem to understand the kind of message she is sending to the young, impressionable girls of the country.
She deserves everything she gets in jail. I blame the parents, simply too much money at a young age, which leads to out of control kids. Lindsay Lohan is another example. What has our country come to when Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan become TOP stories when we have young men & women dying on the front lines. For what so idiots like Paris & Lindsay can do what they are. What do our kids, the future of this country have to learn from those two? NOTHING
Who cares about Paris Hilton? Not me
She's a spoiled law breaker and I'm tired of hearing about her!
The next time I hear a commentator say Paris Hilton is being treated unfairly, I will scream!  How many, blacks, hispanic, asian, native americans, women and poor whites have been treated unfairly?? Oh so many.  And how many of the above mentioned groups have been railroaded and placed in jail for things they did not do?  As a former Police Officer, I see Paris Hilton as a person who does not understand just how serious drunk driving is; how many people drunk drivers have killed.  Why should she not go to jail?  Many people have gone to jail for much less and they could not throw a temper tantrum and get out.  She needs to stop crying and faking sick. (drug withdrawal ... maybe). However, she needs to grow up, and realize she is not above the law.
I was glad to hear your guest state more of the truth about why she received this jail sentence.

Paris continued to drive while she had a suspended license resulting from a DUI related offense. She was stopped twice while driving under suspension (driving in an unsafe way too) I also believe she did not sign up for the  alcohol classes as ordered.

I have heard so many stories of why she was sent to jail. This is more involved than a first time DUI.

How dare Ms. Hilton refer the attention on her to the soldiers serving in Iraq!!!!!!!  Today, a local hero, and I mean HERO, Jerimiah Steller was buried in Carlinville, Illinois.  He was 22 years old and a father of a four year old.  How many times does Miss Hilton think she (his daughter) will cry out "Daddy, Daddy?"  Miss Hilton is a spoiled, self-centered ego-manian, and if she wants me or the rest of the world to believe that her incarceration made a difference in her life, she better start giving of her own life!!!!!!HOW MANY NOW HAVE GIVEN THEIR LIVES so that Miss Hilton can run around, get drunk and drive, and then cry about being treated unfairly??????
                               Gayla Crites
                               Gillespie, Illinois

The media needs to put this to bed.  She's an embarrassment; enough said.  Can we please move on?  I'm surprised Dateline would air this trash.
Paris Hilton is indeed a symbol of class warfare. Not the trial and jail time, but Paris herself.

Paris is so universally loathed because she has, to sum it up, spent her entire life parading around in front of the camera reminding everyone that she is rich and we are not. So much bitter resentment is shown towards her because she has had shown nothing but bitter resentment towards everyone else.

In a sense, she's am embodiment, not of the upper class, but of the upper class using their status to break and evade the laws that the rest of America is supposed to abide by.

Everything she says is suspect. She claims to have turned over a new leaf, but used her one phone call to tell a daytime talk show host instead of her loving family. She claims to be terrified of being photographed on the toilet, even though she already made a sex tape and distributed it to the entire nation.

She never said a word about the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan until AFTER she was sent to prison. The whole thing is just a ploy to make herself seem like a victim so she can be let out early again.

Paris will learn absolutely nothing from this time in prison. All she will do is think about how much she hates the judge that put her there. Mark my words: Paris will celebrate her release from prison by posing for the paparazzi, and after that, a night of hard drinking just like old times.

And if there's even one police officer in L.A. that knows her like I do, Paris Hilton will be pulled over for D.U.I. and arrested again not even 24 hours after her release.
Leave Paris Hilton alone. We are tired of hearing about her, jail, etc. She didn't kill anyone. She drove her car with a suspended driver's license. Shame on her. Many people do the same thing and they don't go to jail. Let her out of jail and get over the fact that she made a mistake. Everyone makes mistakes! I think she's learned her lesson.

to camila,
you are so naive. this young woman is a spoiled undisciplined brat without a conscience nor upbringing. i hope they pummel her in jail.
Paris wants to be in the public eye.  Well, No press is bad press! Any normal person is going to be sad if put in jail, I know I would cry if I was sent to jail. But she was convicted of a DUI and then she was caught 2 more times driving w/o a license (and probably high too} Where were her handlers then? Home in bed? She deserves to be in jail, if she was a poverty stricken minority she would be in jail longer. People with money drive drunk and when they get caught they skip over to rehab and think that fixes everything. Well it does not, and Lindsy Lohan should get a nice term in jail or probation and her license taken away at the least. Why not put Britteney Spears in too, she likes to party and drive .
Oh man, did she just say people should be focusing on the troops in Iraq?  Wow...she just pissed a LOT of people off.  Leave it to her to just make the situation even worse.
I feel sorry for her, and I believe she's misunderstood. I'm appauled by everyone's jealousy, (because that's EXACTLY what it is), and I hope she knows that there are people out here that understand that she's a human being with feelings. I'm not in denial that she goofed up and should be treated accordingly, but for goodness sake, when people are applauding her misfortune, it's just cruel. She's a young, beautiful, rich girl, (none of which is her fault), who's just trying to have some fun while she's young. By no means does she deserve being referred to as "not being especially virginal". Not to get all biblical, but seriously, let those with the least sin cast the first stone.
I highly doubt in this day and age there are many people that can honestly say they haven't made some misjudgements with relationships. Give me a break!
I think women wish they could BE her, and men wish they could be WITH her, and there are some deep-seated resentment and insecurities with the fact that they never will, so it makes people feel better to hate. It's sad.
I wish her all the inner strength and peace she can get...she's proven she can rise above in the past, and she can do it once again.
I'm wondering how many of Paris's supporters will still be singing her praises after she's released, goes out for a 'celebration' and ends up hurting or killing someone. What if it was *YOUR* kid she mowed down? Would you still be whining about her harsh sentence, then?

I don't believe for a nanosecond that she's remorseful for her behavior. She's an emotional two year old in a twenty-six year old's body and it's about time she learns that 'no' means 'NO!', regardless of what Mommy and Daddy (didn't) teach her.  Thankfully, the judge got the final say.
It is sad that we are all so caught up in tragic people: i.e., Anna Nicole Smith, Brittany Spears, Lindsay Lohan, etc, etc, etc.  Paris is a classic example of overindulged, narcisstic people who were raised to think that all that matters is their own wants.  So, Dear Media, ENOUGH ALREADY!!
AS for the people of the United states.I do believe everyone of us DO HAVE OUR ATTENTION ON OUR SOLDIERS.(EVERY SINGLE DAY)We love them and they are serving justice for every one of us in the United states.
Just as Justice needs to be served with Paris Hilton.
Any person that gets a DUI, then drives under suspension,GOES TO JAIL.....NOt only once she drives under suspension but twice...Every person I know that did the same crime as Paris, went to jail...And they didn't get the Hilton of hotels either..IT WAS THE REAL THING..REAL Jail..So COULDN'T SHE AT LEAST BE HAPPY WITH THAT???? She needs to grow up.AND SHE NEEDS TO STOP AND THINK ONCE IN AWHILE BEFORE SHE OPENS HER MOUTH FOR THE WORLD TO HEAR, especially when it comes to anything with our soldiers..
Noreen, what's wrong with you? Are you one of those people who pretend to be all biblical? We are not talking about her relationships. She has shown us she does not wear underwear and waxes down there too.We know about her relationships none lastmore than a week and she likes to tape them. This is about her driving to endanger our children --and her hauty attitude. If she is going to stop being stupid I will believe it when I see it.
Paris Hilton Needs to GROW UP and SHUT UP.She needs to quit flip flopping things around.YES, SHe just pissed the people in the USA off.DOn't even go there with our troops.WRONG MOVE FOR MS. HILTON...........
Enough SAID.

"Paris in Jail..." Ms. Hilton deserves what she's getting b/c she broke the law. It was clearly spelled out to her that she'd go to jail if she drove on a suspended license. Jail sucks. It's cold, stinky, full of hoodlums, & designed to make you not want to be there. She chose to drive anyway. Now, she knows from first hand experience that jail sucks… and tough. Question: why would Paris drive when she could have had one of her chauffeurs take her for her late night munchies? BTW, does Hilton really mow down hamburgers at midnight after partying… other than while making spicy commercials while washing my sports car? Finally, I know a lot of people are tired of her story, but I'd rather hear/read about Paris in Jail, than some idiot who lost his passport and had to spend “Jail in Paris...” wouldn't you?
I now can not even sleep over Paris Hilton's statement. And as for Harvey Levin,Who is he to call the Judge unfair and wrong punishment. Is this guy kidding? This Dateline ending tonight I'm sure has alot of people roaring.Between Paris and this guy Harvey, I'm not sure who is the smarter one?? IT looks like neither.
Noreen, I totally agree with your observations about Paris.  She has been judged by who she is more than what she did.  All of the Defense Attorneys who were interviewed said that she didn't get "any" breaks in fact her sentence was severe!!  I worked in a law office for many years and all of the "DUI" Offenses reduced to reckless driving, (first offense), probation violations, non violent offenders if they got jail time at all were sent to "Work Release" or placed on a tether.  She just got the controlling right wing "Catholic" Judge who severely sentenced her.  Also, I think that her attorneys didn't realize that the legal system is routinely discriminating against rich white female defendants and made her understand how important it was to act contrite.
I doubt her jail time will have taught her a lesson but IF it does then I expect to see her doing something for our troops, or the homeless or something to help the less fortunate when she get's out of jail. That will show me she she means what she says about this being a learning experience.
Wow, A good for nothing sleeze gets away with preferential treatment and so many people jump on the band wagon for a little bit of prime time. LOOSERS. Money and greed only makes a person worse and I guess in Ms. Hilton's case, point is proven.
I was quite apalled to see that she got out of jail in the first place. Obviously, she's had many warnings and continues to disrespect the law... SO GO TO JAIL.. HO....
I support Paris Hilton, not bigots and hope she concentrates on her career
According to Paris herself, "there is bigger news to talk about."  Well, obviously, as we blog and the news' broadcasts, there is not. The reason behind this publicity could be the broken down to one thing:  Privilege.  Her abuse of her privleges in life, are or could be, the basis of the public bias or furor.  She abused her privilege to drive responsibly--please remember that driving is a privilege and not a god-given right; and, she abused her privilege that was bestowed on her at birth-- wealth.  She should have used these two priviledges responsibily and she didn't.  This is not a case of whether of not she was treated unfairly, this was and is a case of a girl that was abusing her responsibilities as a young, privileged woman, that is a CELEBRITY, in a society that should expect more of her. She obviously has a young fan base that she refers to, and she should act as a responsible role model...considering that SHE considers herself one.   I can only hope that she is sincere about acting dumb for attention.  Did anyone see the video of her dancing drunk at Sky bar screaming on camera that she and her friend were dancing like "nig*ers?"  Don Imus got fired for less language than that.  But Hilton doesn't have a job.  She is a celebrity/personality, so we can't fire her.   So, we have to assume that she is a great "dumb" actress.  She has not acted or portrayed herself as  one of the luckiest, most fortunate persons on this planet. And, THAT could be her greatest, self-redeeming role yet.

You all seem to forget she is a person.  Tune out all the glitz.  This person was entitled to be treated by the jailer just as he would treat any other person under the policies that existed at the time.  Not those modified by some loser judge.
The media plays a major role in that you lick her heels at every step she takes. Stop covering her and we wont have to deal with this problem. Why not focus on positive role models for our young people? She merely takes up space and brings no purpose to this planet. At the same time, the authorities allow her to make perfect fools of them. What an embarrassment to our society.
Anyone who says the pleasure derived from seeing that degenerate Hollyweird piece of trash in jail is "sick" is a moron.

It's not sick. It's normal and justified. Us proletarian peons have had ENOUGH of this BS and we've been desperate for our broken legal system to give us just ONE example, just ONE reason to still have faith that justice can be exacted. We've been watching celebrities and other useless people buy their way out of justice with their riches and influences for decades, and it's time to stop. We just can't take it anymore.

Being that Paris Hilton typifies everything that's wrong with America, and serves as the premiere face of the "Ugly American" the rest of the world would love to punch, us normal, decent people are going to derive a great deal of pleasure simply because there's finally something we can point to and say, "See? Our system did the right thing! Normal Americans really aren't like her and we don't want to be like her! Ergo, we really aren't so evil after all."

My only regret is that they don't can Lindsay Glug-Snort-Crash Lohan and the rest of that brainless, soulless group.

If I were so inclined to pray, I'd be praying every day for more people to come to their senses and refuse to tolerate and support this worthless segment of society. Stop paying to see their movies, stop watching their tv shows, don't buy products they endorse, and for the love of all things holy, tell your kids to think for themselves instead of aspire to be like these people.
Do we hear about the "common" people who get a DUI and then proceeds to violate probation conditions with 2 driving without a licenses'.  This kind of thing happens every day.  Does the media care about that person or their families in this situation?  NO!  So why all the "poor Paris", she broke the law and that is the truth.  Get off the pitty train and come back to reality!  Money and Celebrity should NOT get special treatment.

What if she had had and accident and killed a family???  Does being wealthy change the fact that people are dead?
She just basically allowed the judge to prove the system cannot be purchased by the wealthy. Unlike the insecure Sheriff. He should have released someone that had a lesser offense rather than some super rich public figure who may really need a taste of the consequence that you face for your actions when you break the law.
Don't worry about the small amount of time Paris is getting. "She'll be back" as in further trouble and jail or prison, she has learned nothing.
Noreen  of dreamland  I don't see hate really, just a feeling of justice. And I don't remember her rising above anything. You probably feel sorry for the poor misunderstood extremist muslims too. Come back to the real world and see life as it is. An attitude adjustment on her part might be the best result of this incident. A little respect for the dangers of driving drunk, and a little self-respect couldn't hurt her
F.Scott Fitzgerald's narrator says in "The Great Gatsby": The rich are different from you and me.  They go around breaking up things and leave others  pick up the pieces.

Well, Paris may have to pick up the pieces her self, now, only she is too weak and self absorbed to learn from the experience.  She lacks the character to be a tragic figure, and will never have a Gatsby to watch her blue light at the end of the pier.
DUI is very serious and maybe Paris will learn something before she really wrecks her life or that of someone else. On another level Americans deserve comic relief just as ancient Roman working stiffs deserved bread and circuses. Ordinary Americans, like their ancient Roman counterparts, really have little power. Albeit that Americans are free to vote for whatever candidate plutocrats will fund.
Here's an example of why I throw up my hands in despair and need comic releif provided by Paris Hilton: Most Americans really WOULD like to see an America that's energy independent. I worked for an energy research company in the 1970's early 1980's and will say with certainty energy independence will never happen in my lifetime. I'll never feel anything like the pride of Americas technological triumph of it's 1969 Moon landing again. There is no doubt in my mind that if America had the same commitment as Brazil for energy independence since the 1970's it would be in a much better position today.
I'm just an ordinary American working stiff who can only help family and friends and make a few charitable donations now and then. I can't control the $500 billion that went into the Iraq war (thus far) that could have bought America energy independence. (Saddam, as the Godfather movie would suggest, could have been made "an offer he could not refuse" but that's a moot point, America was stuck in the tar pit of Iraq by design).
Anyway, I have to work 12 hours a day since I'm afraid of eating dog food and living in a bad neighborhood when I'm old. Please don't begrudge some amusement - the war debt is going to be taken out of my hide later on.

why are we all criticising this? Just let her go and do her time without any of us talking about her. Why do we need to enravell ourselves in someone elses problems, when you've probably got your own.
Personnaly, I think Paris is a very ugly woman to look at and a spoiled rotten brat that will never learn anything. The time in jail will only succeed in keeping her sober and off the road for that amout of time. I think she should rot in jail.
PARIS WHO? I THOUGHT THAT WAS A CITY.
In all fairness to dear miss Hilton I for one am not "pleased" by what has occured to her. She may be many less than savory or wholesome things, but then again I don't believe that many of us can claim that we're the best guys and gals on the face of the planet.

In all fairness to the rest of America: She deserves far more time in jail. That is the punishment any of you or I would face for 3 DUIs, two on probation without a license.. that's easily in year in some shit hole jail that likely has it's fair share of more vicious individuals.

It's not vengence or malice that drives people to derive a pleasure or sense of happiness from this, it's the fact that those who are rich are treated differently by the law. It's the fact that those with enough money, power and popularity can get away with things or recieve minimal sentencing for that which would send us to prison for life or even have us face death penalties.

So yeah many of us are happy at what has occured not because we want to see someone suffer, but because we want to see this elitist, upper class aristocrasy actually face this odd thing we call 'equal justice.'

If anyone cares to remember the statue of lady justice (based on the Roman god Justicia and other greek/roman dieties) she is a lithe woman with a sword in one hand and a scale in the other with a blind cloth around her eyes. The scales a show os the ability to measure the strength of a case's oppsotion and support.. the two edged longsword the ability to use both reason and justice when striking.. the blindfold symbolic of the ability to met out justice objectively, without fear or favor, without concideration of social class or the strengths and weaknesses of a person.

This of course is fantasy.. justice is not equal and we should stop pretending that it is. Perhaps someone up in that heirarchy of the wealthy and powerful should just come forth and say that class and money and character traits do matter and stop jerking us around like a bull being led by the ring on his nose.

That's all this is about. If you have wealth you can get away with almost anything and this was the first time someone threw a bone at the masses as to give us a shred of hope for a supposedly equal and objective justice system.

And before the paris hilton fan base reminds us that the judge did indeed have it out for her let me remind you this: State laws (at least in my own) would see her license suspended for several years, her cars impounded, when she could legally drive again all of those cars would be monitered by an ignition interlock device and she'd have time in community service and take the various DWI classes. Then we must concider the fact that she then violated probation twice by driving on a suspended license.

Now we move to California.. some of the harshest DUI and probation laws around exist there. One can get a DUI for riding a bicycle while intoxicated. So before the Hilton fans speak another word of how vile this punishment is they should likely concider the standard legal ramifications and punishments a standard civilian would face so that they might understand that this is still just a slap on the wrist. It's with a ruler this time yes.. but still it is nothing compared to what any of us would face.
Paris sure knows how to play it doesn't she? Regardless of the current act she is portraying, she knows exactly what she's doing in order to get the effect she wants, from the sherrif all the way down to the general public. She knows the frenzy she has created and she's lapping up every minute of it. She doesn't fool me for one minute. She acts dumb but she's pretty smart. On the other hand she's smart dumb because what she is doing now will only blow up in her face later. I certainly hope so because I am really getting tired of the whole thing. There's more important people and issues out there than her. The whole family are spoiled and have no idea what it's like living without money. Paris needs a severe lesson and her and her family needs to be humbled. They should be ashamed of themselves, really.
spoiled brat.

anyway, may i know why this woman got famous in the first place? seems to me shes just famous for being famous.
I just wish so many people would not cultivate such bitter, hateful, vindictive, hostile, unmerciful attitudes. Everyone needs some mercy---mercy is when you cut some slack to someone who deserves punishment. Wouldn't jesus just say "neither do I condemn you---go & sin no more?"  He has enough mercy for EVERYBODY. And don't we all need some once in awhile?   shecaresalot.
the sheiff needs to be fired.
Yes, I hear everyone who said Paris Hilton is a spoiled little rich girl- who apparently thought all her families millions could rescue her from this fate worse than death- Jail; Not a pleasant place.I feel sure that this is the first time this poor, miserable excuse for a human being, experienced hearing the word NO from anyone in her entire life.
Money can't buy happiness, anyone with any sense realizes that. Celebritie's lives are certainly an example. You can obtain many homes in many countries- lots of expensive cars, make-up experts- hair stylists-fashion experts to advise you. Plus you can look as though you have never aged one year for your whole life, through plastic surgery, and liposuction- you can get big lips like Angelina Jolie- and big boobs like Pam Anderson. You can pick a handsone and wealthy man to marry. Sadly, things don't mean a thing, when you wake up with a big roaring hang-over- and really can't remem
ber what you did last night- or maybe even where you where.
Sadly, I personally think Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and Nicole Richie, are sliding down the slippery slope as fast as they can go- they are in a complete self-destructive mode- and don't even know it. My question is this- are they self medicating a lot of pain by getting drunk and/or high?
AA talks about people with "a hole in their soul" who try to fill it with drugs and booze, things and what passes for excitement, in the early stages of the disease- which I see as self destruction in each of them- and Britney Spears. I am praying a lot for these people, most of whom, aren't even 21 and old enough to drink yet. BUT we all know it's quite available to those who have the money to buy it. These people need prayer, not hate or disdain. I don't ever want to see another Anna Nicole Smith story. Perhaps with all the money these girls had, the one thing they needed desperately was never given to them- that we all have to keep boundaries in our lives- or we can go "hog wild" and destroy ourselves, and perhaps even others, just going about their daily lives, when they are driving drunk and high. Will people lose their lives, from these people's destructive ways? Did they inherit this DNA from a relative- or have they just had money thrown at them all their lives- so they search for "LOVE", which are really just a series of one night stands. God help them, and us. Thanks for listening.
Drink/Drug drivers deserve to rot in prison.

I lost my mother to one of these poor "victims" and she needs to wake up and live in the real world, even if it is only for 25 days.

You have no one to blame but yourself when you break the law, and prison is the punishment.  Until you've lost someone to a drunk driver you will never understand the feelings of anger towards people that are so stupid they drive while under the influence of anything.
