Where are the female predators?

After every ‘To Catch the Predator’ broadcast, the Dateline inbox always gets this question from viewers: Where are the female predators?

“They are out there,” one e-mailer wrote. “I find it hard to believe given all the teacher scandals that there are no female Internet predators.”

Perverted-Justice has only ever encountered one female predator, according to Del Harvey, who has been a Perverted-Justice contributor since 2004 and who has acted as a decoy in the group’s investigations. The contributors use decoy profiles that are of girls and boys, but only men have shown up for meetings with what they thought to be underage teens.

Robert Weiss, executive director and founder of the Sexual Recovery Clinic in California (and who has been featured in one of our episodes), says that while their center treats both male and female offenders, sexual compulsions on the Internet do seem to be a male-dominated thing. “Women, in general, seem to look for relationships and not necessarily sex – although female offenders will have sex with a minor. They’re just less likely to seek someone out randomly online.”

He adds that men tend to me more visual (which is probably why pornography often factors into potential predators’ online chats with decoys), and men tend to be more comfortable with sex detached from relationships.

Weiss also says that in relationships, women are generally less aggressive than men — and that this is also true in this case. “So a ‘female predator’ needs to cross more social and cultural lines to actually become an offender. But when they reach that point or seek out help, they are generally more troubled and are tougher to treat.”

So what makes a ‘predator’? For Weiss, a man or woman truly needs help if the desire to have a sexual relationship with an underage teen turns into attempts to do so. Weiss says, “You’re not a predator if you have occasional fantasies about underage teens and don’t take it further than that. Predators take it to the next step by seeking out images, chats and eventual meetings with kids. Any attempt to make that kind of fantasy into a reality is predatory.”

Also, the person must be taking advantage of an inequity of power – due to age or the nature of the relationship. Perhaps this is why for many, including for those us working at Dateline, it is more upsetting to see people like teachers, doctors, and rabbis — people who are expected to protect youngsters — walk into the house.

Weiss hopes the series encourages more people who need help to seek it.  He says that the clinic has received numerous calls from people who, after watching the Dateline reports, identified with the problem and feared they could be potential predators. “There are a lot of things at play for those men — problems that exist and things that happen to an individual — before they end up showing up at the Dateline house,” he says. “Compulsive sexual behavior is treatable,” he says.

Chris: I just watched your show celebrating the killing of the accused. I hope you are really proud of yourself. I warned some months ago to both NBC and that pathetic renegade group who is getting rich off of this program, that somebody was going to get seriously hurt or killed. Now, it's come true. Instead of showing some humility and concern for the actions you all have taken, you take the opposite tack and broadcast it. You intentionally entice these guys, you make it look easy, that all these slutty tarts are out there ready to give them blow jobs and free sex. You have yet to openly and completely disclose the full transcripts of how your decoys entice these men. I for one am disgusted by both the actions of these troubled men, and your obvious glee that there are so many of them providing plenty of programming. The real perverted justice is this show...
Good job, Chris. I think the law enforcement in Texas should be commended along with you and your show. Where I am from in Missouri, law enforcement is a big joke, a racket with prosecutors, lawyers and judges and most law enforcement being involved. If you ever want the background for a show on that, we have overwhelming evidence.
Although this show is not pleasant to watch, I always watch it because it is in fact a painful reality that we have to face. Although it does seem that Perverted Justice is definately pushing these men to meet with the young girls, I still agree with what they are doing. The fact is that 13 or 14 year-old girls are not in a position to make responsible decisions for themselves, and just because a girl that age wants sex does not make it OK for an older man to take advantage of her. So I applaud Dateline and Chris Hanson for endeavoring to catch these men. That said, the only thing that really bothers me about the whole thing is the injustice of the fact that while these preditors are being exposed (as they should be) and prosecuted (as they should be), at the same time people like Huge Hefner, Steve Hirst, and other mass producers of the pornography that is fueling this epidemic go unpunished and are even celebrated in our society. Their money protects them from the brutally destructive consequences that their pornography is having on the minds of those who buy it and watch it. This to me is a horrible injustice. Nobody likes to hear of women being raped and killed, but they like to dress up as Hefner or the playboy bunnies on Halloween. But can no one see the connection? Studies have shown that, amazingly, the most common factor between men who end up in jail is their exposure to pornography. Pornography de-sensitizes the person who looks at it--it objectifies people, makes them into objects instead of people, making it easier to justify crimes in the mind of the one who is doing the act--because that person is just an object. Pornography eventually destroys a person's capacity for real intimacy. And yet people don't seem to think pronography is a big deal--they seem to think it is just normal. But it's that "normal", "no-big-deal" pronography that is fueling what we see happening on Dateline and I just wish somebody could make that connection and start pointing the finger at the people who are even more guilty than those being caught on Dateline's "To Catch A Preditor"--the producers of pornography in this country who are creating this problem from the top down and being shielded from the consequences of it.
No one seems to mention that this is a last step in process. These men are not always "enticed" to talk to younger females. If you are familiar with online chat, a person can choose your screen name and send a personal message, seen only by the receiver, right to their computer. Alot of times, screennames "entice", but they don't have to entice to be targeted by a male looking for sex (of any kind). These men are aggressive and blunt, and these girls are very capable of teasing. These men waste no time getting to the nitty gritty. Meanwhile these words have passed your child's eyes, and no one seems to be concerned about THAT. But the point is that these men should not be doing this in the first place. They are supposed to be in control of their urges (ew!). The internet, though, allows them to think that what they are doing is normal and acceptable (through countless pictures of the willing, and extremely easy access to young people who will indulge them to a certain point maybe because it is funny, or maybe to a young girl who thinks she is desirable because of the attention she receives) How much do you want to bet that your young daughter, if allowed access to the internet, has not yet seen male genitalia or heard of oral sex. Ask your daughters and your sons. Profile pictures can be naked pictures of a person and rooms full of people are requested to go check a profile picture and you think your curious child would ignore that? Once I found out that my son (grown now) had been requested to view a profile picture and it was the picture of a little girl sitting naked on top of the nether region of a naked grown man. She was smiling. Sad, sick and TRUE! The more these images and conversations are experienced, the more "normal" these things become. I think that is much bigger worry than how many men compared to women are being caught. Or if these men are being set up. An adult is supposed to be smart enough not to engage in such activities, or be seduced by them. These guys are perverts, plain and simple. And too many people are raising the BAIT!
Manipulated or not, man or woman, whatever. These ADULTS should not be putting themselves into a situation that would cause them to be percieved as predators. You can tell your kids not to do something all you want but if they want to they will find a way be it a your home or someone elses. So I say keep up the good work. Get as many of these perverts off the streets as you can.
I just wanted to say THANK YOU, to Chris & the rest of the staff at MSNBC. Thank you for keeping the children safe, and helping to take back the war against predators online. God Bless you, and keep up the great job.
What about the kooks that are into beastiality (sp)? This is just as sick as pedophilia. It has to be against the law. Or is this topic just too sick for TV?
As a parent of teenagers, the number of men who continue to try and 'hook up' with underage kids for sex, even after seeing the show, is disturbing to me. I have to wonder if the morals of America have gone to hell in a handbasket, or if the internet just makes it easier for them, and we are more aware of it? Thank you for what you're doing. If it helps save even one at all, it's worth it.
I think your program is disgusting, it is clearly not necessary to humiliate these men from all walks of life in front of millions of people o national TV and put them in jail for what they just talk in the chat rooms. Their lives, jobs, families are forever changed and shattered, give then a chance, mask they faces, hide their identities. and where are the warnings, where are the parents, is it appropriate or even legal to use decoy to doing the fishing in the first place? Are you going to arrest the parents, the ISPs?? People do talk all kinds of the craps in the chat rooms and also hide their identities. Breaking the la by just talking to a people saying that they are 13? give me a break! Prepared to get sued.
I would like to commend Dateline MSNBC on your continued efforts to expose child predators and put them behind bars. Preying on children is such a heinous crime, by "adults" and they deserve to be prosecuted to fullest extent. Kudos to Chris Hanson and the producers of "To Catch a Predator". Children are safer tonight because of your devoted work. It is tragic that the Assistant District Attorney took his own life, but that is what he choose to do rather than face his family, friends and coworkers with his pedifiphllia.
Stop putting people into desperate situation for some silly things they do in the chat rooms before more people get hurt.
To Whom It May Concern, I would like to exprss my disgust with your program which I consider a true example of yellow journalism at its snaring worst. On the pretext of providing a public service feature, the promoters of "Dateline" engage in a questionable search for predators which thinly disguises their true purpose, that of servicing the spurious curiosity of some. By preying on the foibles of a few deviants and exposing them on national TV you have provided the nation with a spectacle of a circus of horrros. I suppose you believe you deserve congratulations, right? What you do is morally questionable, even if not legally so. You set the stage for the perpetrators and invite them to commit a crime most of them might not have committed but for momentary stupidity. It is true some of the people you are luring into your trap are of dubious character, but the ends do not justify your means, which makes me ask who is worse, whether they or you. What possible vindication can anyone find in their humiliation and wretchedness? You are providing no service. Not to us, the public, not to children, not to anyone. In fact, your lack of ethics parallels theirs. Entrapment is illegal in most states, if not in Texas whose criminal justice system has yet to come out of the Middle Ages. It is ovbious that, although they were liars, some of those who answered your invitations were not old timers. If the local law enforcement agencies were more englightend, those people would be receiving treatment, instead of being unwitting and unwillling performers in your circus. Besides, by humiliating them im public you deprive them of the privacy that even those under arrest are entitled to, not to mention depriving them of the chance of rebuilding their lives. Spare me the frayed excuse that they humiliated themselves, you are the vehicle of publication. I am suprised you haven't been sued yet. I agree with the prosecutor's sister. Her brother's death was not suicide. Instead of having a chance to treat his condion, you drove him to despair. I also believe that bottom feeders like you should be sued because what you do is despicable. Yours very sincerely, Anna L. V. Josephs
I honestly can't believe the comments made by Larry from San Diego and people like him who want to pass the sick and dangerous actions of these predators off as a mere 'fantasy' and make the ridiculous claim that they were arrested merely for talking in a chatroom. Please at least make an attempt to read the original post before commenting on it, because I think it does an excellent job of showing the difference between the people who simply have fantasies and the predators who ACT on those urges. The moment they try to initiate contact with a child, share or ask for pornagraphic pictures or real life information, they have crossed the line, they are out of control and need to be stopped by any means necessary.
aloha chris i love your show dont listen to all these guys that are talking neg.of the show.like Krissy Seattle, WA.i wish it doesnt happen to her kids or her family member,,and for Gary, New Haven, CT.i was raise in new haven too, lots of crazy guys over there i hope its doesnt happen to your family member.i know you know where is congress ave or the project.that why i live in hawaii now.keep up the good, no "the great job" on NBC..mahalo...and what happen to that attorney he knew he was wrong that why he did what he had to do.may god forgive him.
I’m amazed at the comments opposing your actions. “Adults are posing as 13 year old” should police departments hire actual 13 year old to make it actually wrong. Those curious predators have actually failed at there own entrapment. Until predator, drug dealer & criminal voluntary turn them self in I support exposing this problem as humiliating as it can be.
Can you please tell me if you have a list of "user" names that these "maniacs" have used. I would like to be contacted as I may probably have a few more for you to investigate. And I would gladly be the bait to bring them down and not how they want.
dear, john what about girl predators there all over yahoo.com chat rooms ive met some of them so if you want too get one heres 1 brittney hunt in canada she is all ages on this and is not a minor and i am so will you please come and get her she is showing me pornaghraphy sights well bye
Chris, Thank you for helping to keep some of these scum bags off of a street for even a short period of time. I was a victim of child abuse when I was 12. I am now 40. Till this day I just don’t understand the sickness of these people. I think that they should be put on an island and left to die.
Ok all you people who are against the show are crazy. It's like Paul L. said "the predators have failed at their own entrapment." They may be lured there, but they are the adults. And they were going there to try and get a 13 year old kid to have sex with them! How much more guilty can you be? Should we wait till one of these sickos forces themselves on a child? Or abducts someones kid? I bet if it were one of YOUR children that was being chatted up by these perverts ya'll would have a differnet perspective on this. Dateline is doing these men a favor by arresting them. Because if someone was to ever hurt one of my kids or any kids I know in the way that these people are trying to hurt these children they would find justice the good ole fashioned way ALOT harder to handle!! We adults should be held accountable for our actions AND we know better! And parents should get of their keesters and monitor their kids more closely! So heres a pat on the back to everone involved in the dateline show!! Youre doing a dang fine job! Keep up the goodwork!! And come to our town anytime you want to!
I love the show.....but I have a twist for you. What about girls who get in chat rooms and say they are 20,21,etc? Yet they are actually 13,14. I know a young man (22) who met one with ID that said she was 20 yrs old and yet he found out she was only 14. He can be labeled as a sex offender and yet nothing happens to these girls. Something needs to be done about this as well.
FEMALE PREDATORS? This show is not going to catch female predators for two reasons. 1) Women do not have the same sex drive as men. Seriously, when was the last time you heard of a woman paying a prostitute for sex? 2) Women aren't typically sexually attracted to children. 3) Women are more interested in relationships than sex. Sure you hear of stories of female teachers molesting their underage students, but these women have already formed RELATIONSHIPS with these students. Sure they have sex with the students, but they get involved in the relationships for the caring, love and nurturing that women crave in a relationship, not for the sex. I'm not saying that this makes it right, just pointing out that women have different motivations for getting involved with children than men do and that Dateline's method only addresses those motivations that appeal to men.
HI CHRIS: I WATCH YOUR PROGRAM EVERY WEEK. I THINK IT IS SHOWING PEOPLE HOW THE PREDATORS WORK IN GETTING YOUNG CHILDREN. ALTHOUGH, I THINK THERE IS SOME INTRAPMENT INVOLVED IN IT BECAUSE THE OFENDERS ARE NOT TALKING TO AN ACTUAL CHILD WHEN THEY ARE BEING SET UP. NEVERTHELESS, IT IS SHOWING JUST HOW THE PREDATORS GO ABOUT GETTING A CHILD FOR THEIR SICK PLEASURES. ALSO, I WONDER WHY DATELINE NEVER DOES A PROGRAM SETTING FEMALE PREDATORS UP SHOWING HOW THEY GO ABOUT GETTING CHILDREN. ALTHOUGH DATELINE ,FOR SOME REASON, DOESN'T LET PEOPLE KNOW THERE ARE FEMALE PREDATORS OUT THERE THE SAME AS MEN PREDATORS, I KNOW THAT THERE ARE. WOMEN GO IN CHAT ROOMS THE SAME AS MEN AND DO JUST AS BAD AS THE MEN PREDATORS. IS DATLINE PARCIAL TO WOMEN AND DON'T WANT TRO SHOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING? WHY KEEP WHAT THEY ARE DOING COVERED UP? I LIKE YOUR PROGRAM VERY MUCH AND LIKE YOU BRINKING THE PERVERTS OUT INTO THE OPENING. BUT, PLEASE BE FAIR. PLEASE DO A SHOW ON THE FEMALE PREDATORS. DON'T HIDE THEM AND WHAT THEY ARE ALSO DOING TO CHILDREN. ONE PREDATOR ISN'T ANY BETTER THAN ANOTHER ONE, NO MATTER WHAT THEIR SEX IS. PLEASE CHRIS. LET'S BRING ALL PRETORS OUT INTO THE LIGHT.
I must be in the minority...I have seen the show one time and then read the article about the DA killing himself. I don't see Dateline as a hero nor do I "thank them" for exposing sexual predators. I do thank all the law enforcement officials and volunteers who devote countless hours to getting these people off the streets. Dateline is just another reality TV show out to make a buck through tasteless entertainment. Why anyone would want to watch perverts get arrested week after week is beyond me and I am sure the creators of the show are laughing all the way to the bank. If you really want to know what is going on in your kid’s life, unplug the TV for a week and spend time w/them. You might be surprised…..I sure was! But like I said, I must be in the minority
Chris, I love your show! I find it to be enlightening yet, extremely disturbing. I don't often watch TV however, "To Catch A Predator" is so compelling(at times redundant and predictable) that if I miss an episode, I watch it online later that week. That's how I'm writing this. In fact Chris, I think that all of your exclusives are so good that I am taking this forum to recover a previous story you've done for Dateline. You had a story back in 2004 about a company called Quixtar. I was captivated by how you followed them for a year. I was recently confronted by someone trying to get me to join the business. I did a little research on the internet and would like to see you revisit the story. Aside from that I just wanted to take this moment to praise what a great job you're doing with the "Predator" series. Keep up the great work and continued success with this and upcoming series.
Dear Chris,as a mother I just wanted to say thank you, thank you and 100000000000000000000000000000000 thank you for this program. Good job!
Dateline has mentioned that this Murphy, TX incedence is a tragedy?!?!?!....... This is NO tragedy! This is a bonus. He saved everyone in those Texas counties a lot of tax money. Your program is producing exactly what it is designed to do... To flush out all of these demons living amoung us no matter what their social stature. These people are a cancer upon this earth. They need to be excised........ Beware you sex perverts, justice will come to you. Maybe not now, but later. Keep it up Dateline. You are doing the world a very, very good service. I wish there were more programs going on like you.............
Hang 'em high!! Chris...... Your doing a great job.
Great show and contribution to society. Those that complain about it just being about ratings need to take a look at the bigger picture. The show, although primarily designed to recieve ratings, produces another affect that is not common with any other shows on the air. It is rare to find programming that provides a service to society, and this one definitely does. Quit complaining and enjoy the benefits!!
this program is for entertainment only i bet its number 1 on T.V. but its a catch to it. Just like our freedom in this country.
Great show...So when will you be coming to NC? I noticed that most of the shows take place in CA and TX. Is it because the laws are stricter there? I had been wondering the same thing about Female predators and why there haven't been any stories about them, and your article above answered my questions. Keep up the good work? Oh, the only comment I have about the decoys are they are not dressed like most teens I see and maybe if they dressed alittle more modern and no pig tails in their hair, may help prevent the predators from leaving so quickly sometimes....Just a thought.
Dear Chris, I watch every episode of To Catch a Predator and I think it is a wonderful show. It makes me more aware of the kind of people who get on the internet and do this type of thing to kids. It makes me sick to know that men and women can do this type of thing to children. However, we must dig deeper into why this people do this sort of thing. Were they victims of the same kind of abuse that plan to inflict on the children that they prey on? What is even more amazing is the number of men who have watched this series and fall right into the trap. These men don't care if they get caught. They want what they want and that's that. I hope you do more shows like this. And to the citzens of Murphy, Tx, Give Dateline, Perverted Justice and your local law enforcement a hand because they are trying to make you aware that these people exist and they plan on doing something about it. They are protecting the most precious thing and that is our children. Once their innocence is gone, there is nothing left.
It has something to do with TESTOSTERONE. There are some female predators to be sure but the largest majority are males. Why are there more men in prison it is because a lot of males have hugh egos and won't back down when they are wronged.
Why do so many of the males in this post seem so eager to see a segment done on Female Predators? First off, I don't believe such a segment would be successful because I don't believe the women will show up. This is a PREDOMINATELY MALE weakness that is being exploited on this show. It seems a lot of the males here have a tough time accepting that women just don't have the same sex drive as men. THAT is why you're not seeing female predators on this show. Despite the handful of well-publicized teacher-student relationships, it is a rare woman who is interested in sex with a child.
God bless you Chris, and bless anyone who is responsible for this show. doing a great job.
I have seen some of the Dateline segments on the predators. I just don't understand why viewers take any thing they see on TV as gospel. Do people not understand that the only motive Dateline has is RATINGS? Yes, predators should be stopped at all costs. BUT...not just the ones that gain ratings for the fat cats in the media. What about the priests, teachers and the foster parents? Not to mention the fact that the United States turns sexual deviants out of prisons YEARS before they have served their whole sentence. And studies show that the sickos get sicker after being released....they kill the victims in the attempt to silence them. Castration for repeat sex offenders..even that is too good for them.
Janice, even if your comment is true (which I don't believe) that Dateline's only motivation is ratings. . .WHO CARES? Everything on TV is on TV because someone wants to watch it. And obviously the public enjoys watching this program otherwise why would there be so many posts here in such a short period of time. Besides these sickos who are willing to have perverted conversations online with underage kids DESERVE to be HUMILIATED on national television. I am all for what Dateline is doing.
Sure - Dateline wants ratings, Policemen want a paycheck, as do judges, attorneys (on both sides), etc. Doesn't mean you can't choose to do something good to get your ratings or paycheck. Getting paid doesn't make a difference to the people affected by your good deeds - the children who would have been victims of these predators.
ITS A STINKING SHAME IN THE STATES,THAT WE PROTECT,THE WRONG DOERS.THE PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE IS WE ARE NOT ASHAMED OF THINGS ANYMORE.ITS A SHAMEFUL THING TO VIOLATE THE ELDERLY,AND CHILDREN.THESE PEOPLE CANT ALWAYS PROTECT THEMSELVES,AND IM SUPPOSE TO FEEL BAD,THAT A PREDITOR IS HUMILIATED?PLEASE.
i just wanna say i love your show, dateline does a very good job and so does chris, keep up the good work,i just never knew it was so many predators out there like this, i wonder now how many could be right here in virginia, once again great job guys keep it up.
Chris, KUDOS, for what you and Dateline do. It's incredible to me to see soooo many sick men that are in need of alot of help!! Keep up the good work!!
I'm sorry, but I don't believe that. The same way they have the decoy in the chat rooms talking to men. It goes the same for women. There are just as many sick females, that there are males. I think we should see a woman tackled to the ground when she walks out the decoys door. I think there are many that would agree with me. If we're going to crack down on predators, let's get them all, not just single out a certain group of them!
KEEP UP THE GOOD WOEK DATELINE THE WORLD IS BETTER WITH YOUR SHOW AND WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO KEEP THE PERV'S OFF THE STREET
This strategy of modern day public humiliation is brilliant. These men have absolute confidence that they can get away with raping boys and girls. Perhaps many more episodes of this program will help to cause predators to think it won't be so easy to rape children.
To borrow a much used catch phrase, "if it saves just one child" I think it is awesome. Public shame works, it will scare others off. The moral fabric of our society has decayed to a point where this is necessary. It is not Chris' fault there are so many idiots out there. On the other hand, it is our job as parents to ALWAYS know where our children are and what they are doing. They are not capable of believing these people are evil. we need to be vigilant always.
I have kids in my home, and I work with kids, and I can tell you that a working parent cannot monitor the computer or the kid all the time. It takes a second to click out of a program and these kids are smart. They also have access to computers at school, the library, and at friends homes. Kids have sex, do drugs, drink and who knows what else, because they cannot be watched all the time. If there is a will, they will find a way. We simply cannot watch kids all the time. All we can do is teach them as best we can and hope for the best. I am very lucky to have great kids (as far as I know)!Your program is doing more in the area of preditors than any talk I could give my kids could ever do. Thank you!
how can they get away with things like that. i thought that when the gov found things like that they shut them down? why are they not doing that. nancy is right. my child is not old enough for the computer (2yrs old) Thank you for your hard work
Mr Hanson, Great job in Florida! Let's bring it to Missouri. As for "Where are the women preds?" They are out there but are not the ones chatting and then setting up a meeting to have sexual encounters with and underage child. It happens to be men that should know better and they should be taught a lesson. If we can keep them off our streets and away from our children then it's worked. I just think that there should be a more severe charge for repeat offenders or people that have been convicted of a sexual offense previously. You're doing a fantastic job keep up the great work. Come to Springfield, Missouri.
I believe Dateline is doing a great public service in filling in where the law seems to be absent. Society need a pro-active group (Perverted Justice) that can draw the deviants to justice. Reading through all the past comments, I am thankful that I made it through my childhood without being raped by a family member, neighbor, teacher, clergy, friend or complete stranger. I am sure I wouldn't be the person I am today had some horrific act happened. And as for the "ratings" arguement, if it is rated high, it is because people want to see justice. As for your "entrapment" and "humiliation" claims, too bad! No child forced these men to type or take the pictures they did. Adults should be able to exhibit self control at all times. If one cannot, there are hard lessons and consequences. I have one last request for Dateline: ask the police to use the taser more. These guys deserve it!!
I believe this show is "creating" sexual predators. Cops going into adult men chatrooms and poasing as young women trying to find some takers. They'll always find one or two. Leave the keys in your ignition and you'll turn a 20 year old college student who normally wouldn't think of stealing a car, into a car thief. Next, you'll be going into housewife chatrooms posing as young boys looking for sex. You will find plenty of older women. What are you waiting for ? Let's ruin some female lives while we're at it "and" get paid to do it too. Why don't you find the guys throwing kids into vans
Hi Chris, I just wanted to know when your shows come on, like what times and days. I've watched the show once and I loved it, it's very funny and informative. Keep up the good work and keep the predators off the line and out of the streets!
